I've had my eye on VCV rack for ages, but didn't really know where to start until your amazing tutorials. Now I'm an addict. Thankfully I'm addicted to free software, and not making an enemy of my wife by spending tens of thousands on Eurorack hardware!

I'll always repeat: how great it is some physical modules are also available as virtual clones in the VCV Rack. ❤️ After trying them on the computer, I purchased two hardware Befaco modules (and three Mutable Instrument ones)!

I thought this exact same thing. It makes me wonder why more companies aren't racing to make VCV Rack versions of their modules. There are so many hardware modules I wouldn't have known about or bothered to figure out what they do if it weren't for them being available completely for free on VCV. Befaco and Instruo are some of my fav modular companies because of VCV Rack, and I'm always trying to figure out where I can include one of their modules in my rack on ModularGrid. lol

As always, Omri you make such a great intro to the module, tons of stuff to learn from you! I started playing around with the muxlicer a few a weeks ago... absolutely amazing, just endless ways to use this module. As a non-hardware user, I am happy I have started forcing myself to try to master some specific modules (rampage, segments, flux etc.) rather than taking in that "adrenaline high" of playing with the next new module of the infinite collection available on VCV. I think Muxlicer is definitely a module I suggest spending time on, going in-depth, and understanding its features and possible uses.

Excellent walkthrough, lovely ratcheting with the hats :). Couple of extra points in case people don't know - All In is by default normalled to 10V (hence why you need quite small values on the sliders to keep the pitch sequence managable given 1V/octave), but the 'normal value' can be set to 1V or 5V from the menu to allow finer grained control. Also it can work as a 1 -> 8 switch (again from the menu) but I never seem to remember to use it in that mode...

hey Omri, really enjoying your videos and wondering what downsides you see in software compared to hardware modules, as you seem to be into both very much? thanks :)
@OmriCohen-Music
@OmriCohen-Music 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! There are many advantages to using software but since you asked about the downsides, I will mention a couple. First if all, the limitations of hardware can be quite inspiring so having so many possibilities in software, might be overwhelming and can affect creativity. Another downside is not having tactile experience. There's magic in reaching out for knobs and faders. Even if you have an amazing Midi controller, it's still not the same. You have to think what to map, and remember what is mapped to what. In hardware, you just go for it without thinking too much.

@OmriCohen-Music

@@OmriCohen-Music i have Rampage too (another of your videos I revisit often). Yes and no - I was thinking that I could set gate length with the sliders on Muxlicer and then output the gates. @OmriCohen-Music
@OmriCohen-Music 3 жыл бұрын
Well, that's where the Gate input comes in handy. You can feed it constant voltage, something like +5 volts, and then, if you have two consecutive steps on, it will just keep the gate open like a tied note :)
@MrMarcLaflamme
@MrMarcLaflamme 3 жыл бұрын
@@OmriCohen-Music But then you can't have two consecutive steps that aren't tied? Or maybe I'm not understanding. Might you need two MEX's for this? One to sequence the gates and one to sequence the ties? I'm thinking of how Bin Seq is laid out where it has off/gate/tie on the toggle switch.
