Building an ARMORED CAR From a V10 Diesel VW Touareg (and then TESTING it!)

Very very cool project. Now ... just to be clear (maybe you say, I'm at 7min), by "armored" he means against handgun rounds. I expect a 223 is zipping right through it. anyone in it. Full powered rifle..? Would require so much more that you'd need different suspension... even 1/4" of AR500 ... which'd make it bullet resistant to medium powered (7.62, but not AP and certainly not 30-06 in AP). But would def. have added a couple TONS. Probably making the power inadequate.

Hey guys, great work you done on the car! I'm from the Netherlands and went to visit LA 2 times. First time I got an Escalade because the rental company didn't have any other car with sat nav. Put us on the shortest route and ended up going miles through skidrow! Hehe, now i know who i'm calling when i need a Mad Max style car for the next Apocalypse/Pandemic. XD 2:25 Oh, it IS serviceable. But only at a VW certified car shop that will cost you THREE times as much as a random car shop. Classic german thinking. Same goes with the most other things on german cars. Back in my childhood, you could repair/fix/replace everything yourself with a few normal tools and some general knowledge about cars. Today you need special tools to change the spark plugs because you cant reach those without removing the cover that was put over the engine to make it look "Fancy" because this needs a special kind of screwdriver or so and you cant get those as a private person. I mean, i remember when i was little, the distributor cap on our Ford Fiesta broke. It was part of the ignition, so the car didnt run without it. What did ma dad do? Right, he simply removed the old cap, sat on his Harley, drove to the next shop for car parts, got a new cap, drove back, put the new one in, and the car was running again. He needed less than an hour for that and only had to pay for the spare part that was around 30 bucks. Today the same kind of work whould only be possible in a specialized workshop that's certified for the brand of your car and it whould cost you hundreds of euros. And why? Because the cars got SO complicated, and you need special tools only certified workshops get to work on the cars, so you simply cant do anything yourself anymore. They simply force you to go to the workshops instead of being able to do small repairs and maintenance yourself.

I just hope he never has to replace the alternator. They are cooled by engine coolant because they were developed initially for the Dakar rally at wide open throttle with a bunch of bright rally lights. Because of this, they are very expensive ($3K) and are very hard to find.

You can get a tig water cooled torch and water cooler. This one here as a tig torch from the oil industry that is good for 300+ amps on engine drives… so you can weld air cooled full power as well …
