This video is the first installment of a four part series showing us constructing an elevated deer hunting blind, using material milled on our Woodland Mills sawmill. It also showcases our LS tractor, which we used to help stand the blind upright. #woodlandmills #lstractor #sawmill #elevator brackets # homemade tower blind # elevated hunting blind # milling utility poles

I would love to say I planned it that way, but moving slowly because I was nearly paralyzed with fear is probably closer to the truth! lol... thanks for commenting!

great job. I plan on building one next year. A 4x8 platform with a 2x4 porch. Yes standing it up will be fun with a ATV with a winch and tow straps and come a long's. If i film it , it will have a bloopers part I'm sure.

Hey, appreciate the compliment! It was a challenging build, but it paid off last week when I bagged the first deer of the season out of it. Good luck with your project, hope it turns out exactly how you want it!

I stood mine up with a harbor freight 9k winch on the back of my Ford Crown Vic and the brake set on the side by side,running back and forth to let cable out on the side by side to ease it over. I did not have the brackets he showed. I bolted the Oak legs on with 1/2" bolts fender washers. I drove 2 pry bars in the ground to keep it from sliding. My platform is larger than his. going to cut 3/8" Plexiglass for fold down windows Monkey magnets should be strong enough to hold shut till needed. Best of luck to all. I'm retired and every day is a good day,even when raining.

Nice job on this project Tony. I can't wait to see part 2 already. Unfortunately I don't have anywhere to shoot like you have available. I can't wait to see you getting them walls up there. Keep it going buddy 👍

I have a larger platform ,started out as (4) 40"x48" pallets connected and sheeted with OSB 3/4" used $ "T" posts bolted to the legs to anchor it. Used a popup blind on it last year. Wanting to frame up and cover with metal and a tent size wood burning stove this season. I like your roof panel Idea,I will probably make it in 3 pieces over lapping as it goes taller. Thanks

Nice! How did you install the middle bracing in between the joist? Did it make it stable?

Are you referring to the short piece of 4x4? I just lag screwed it through the joists and into the ends. Yes, it's really stable and is holding up well. Thanks for the comment!

@@bbfarmsmaple8011 thanks for reply. I think I figured it out. Btw do you know the angle that the base 4x4 sit at due to the brackets? Because I am trying to make the platform sit at exactly 5ft. Does the angle make the legs height shorter?
@bbfarmsmaple8011

I THINK the brackets are either 7 or 8 degrees, both directions. And yes, you do lose a little height due to the angle. Maybe start with longer legs then trim off the bottom, once the brackets and base are in place, to achieve your 5 ft?

definite hydraulic leak on the front forks can see it sag in the timelapse

Yep, it leaks off after a spell. Since I'm not usually in a position where I need to hold anything static for any length of time, I don't worry about it. Maybe I'll look at it in the future.
