Challenge concept: Simsie makes a little house the way she likes it, uses her favorite swatch for every item she wants, makes it nice and cohesive. Then when it’s finished, chaos mode kicks in. For every item, she must then go in and change the swatch either to her least favorite or to a randomized number swatch. Let the crazy colors and weird combinations unfold! There could be a before/after tour, or the whole thing could be built duplex style, with the two versions existing side-by-side. Enjoy!

I love the chaos that unravels when people start talking where they have laundry 😂 I live in Poland, I've seen washing machines in bathrooms, kitchens, corridors, garages, but I think having it in bathroom is the most popular and least annoying. And dryers are just starting to be more accessible in last few years, before that they were so expensive. My mum bought the combined washer-dryer last year and I envy her so much, warm towels are next level and they get so fluffy.

@pinkcupcake4717 I saw one at a family friend's house like 10 years ago, although it was a stacked unit and the gimmick was that it could dump the wet laundry into the dryer portion without removing it from the machine. Supposedly more convenient but at the time I enjoyed using my family's standalone dryer to get my teddy bears warm and fluffy so I was like "this thing is a dumb convenience gadget marketed at middle class folks who live above their means in fancy cookie cutter suburbs, and unlike a lot of stuff other families have that I'm jealous of, I'm glad my family doesn't have this."

I live in Eastern Europe! Indeed, many people may have a washing machine in the kitchen, especially in old apartments where there is very little space. It's funny when someone is preparing dinner and you need to get clean clothes out of the washing machine. We also had to hang wet laundry on lines stretched in the middle of the rooms, because we didn’t have a balcony or other place. I lived like this for 26 years before I moved into my own house. (by the way, I only learned about dryers a few years ago...)
@blaireshoe8738
@blaireshoe8738 Жыл бұрын
I forget that some people who do have washers DON'T have dryers! In my mind they are a package deal, does not compute that there can be one without the other right next to it. Not that the dryer is a requirement to use, I know plenty of people who genuinely prefer the smell of fresh air from line-drying, or want to save electricity, or their dryer came with the house (ie super old, possibly broken) and they just rather avoid it than find ways to make it work better or remove/replace it. I've just never seen one without the other beside/above, except the very rare occasion that I've seen a combo unit. Kinda wild to learn that someone has grown up thinking so incredibly differently to me, I love hearing about what others think of as normal, it's so cool how varied everyone's opinions on something as "simple" as laundry can be!
@katanah3195
@katanah3195 Жыл бұрын
@@blaireshoe8738Honestly, as Kayla said in the video I'd rather have a dryer than a washer in a small space because clotheslines take up a lot of space. But yeah, for saving labour it's definitely preferable to have a washer, if you can't have both, so I see why having just a dryer would be even more uncommon than just a washer.

To be fair, a lot of those extensions are actually just conservatories, so they barely have any use except for a space to sit in. Every one of them basically looks the same and they're incredibly impractical because you're supposed to have it as a sort of sitting space, but in winter they're freezing cold and in summer they're obnoxiously hot because they're small spaces with glass for every outside surface. They look like a modern extension, but they're really not all that fancy or useful 😂

In Italy, you never find a washer in the kitchen and rarely find a drier. The standard here is the washer placed in the bathroom or in a utility room. Driers have begun to appear in italian houses just a few years ago and are considered a sort of luxury since you have to have space to be able to accomodate one and the most usual household here lives in an apartment, not in an independent house. I personally never saw a washer/drier combo although I'm sure you can find them here, it's just something unusual just like the drier. Wet clothes get hung in the bathroom or on the balcony (when you have one), those are our usual "driers"

It's amusing hearing conservatories being referred to as "modern"! They were really popular in the early-mid 2000's but they've since gone out of fashion. I have seen laundry in the kitchen in the US (Iowa, specifically), but it's usually only in houses that were built or last updated in the 1950's or so. It's especially common in houses built in the early 1900's or older, that were updated around the 50's, the plumbing hookups were already in the kitchen or were added to the kitchen, so the washer was added there. From around the 60's/70's onward, we started putting the laundry in the basement, and then in the late 2000's/early 2010's, we started including a separate room or closet for laundry, so that's really only a new build/fresh renovation thing around here.

11:24 lilsimsie, with her head in the palm of her hand and with a smile says she should make an effort to include laundry in her saves because: "and the laundry is fun, cause the dryer might catch on fire" help you're so funny XD

That bit about not needing to fence in your garden - true for Sims 4, but in 3 with Supernatural you did have to fence off the garden or else *zombies* would eat your plants on the full moon. Took me a while to break that habit playing 4.

I'd love to see the beach houses of Winderburg! Lol. It's so cool to see what we used to do when some packs didn't exist yet. Are there videos of that houses on youtube?

Most of us know Kayla is married, but unless her personal life effects her videos she doesn’t speak much on it so hearing her say “my husband” made me smile

When I was house hunting I found one with the washer in the bathroom on the first floor (which made sense! That’s where you take your clothes off to hop in the shower! Especially when you’re like me and have a job where you get very dirty), but the drier was in the basement. The thought of hauling those heavy loads of wet clothes down those steps for the rest of my life made me give the whole place a hard pass.

Haha I live in north Texas and my house has a washer and dryer in the kitchen lolll. It was built in the 50s and renovated in the early 2000s but the laundry has always been in the kitchen regardless!

A lot of houses here in the UK don't have a heavily-windowed extension but a conservatory. These are the ones you see with glass rooves.

I'm Italian but I live in Spain. When I first moved here, I found it weird that most people would keep their washing machine in the kitchen. Back in Italy we kept in the basement, so it was a new experience for me!

Im danish and rn im living in an apartment in Norway, here the washer is in the bathroom and no dryer. But back home at my parents house we have the washer and dryer in the mudroom that we enter into from the outside. In danish its either called bryggers or vaskerum, last one translates into washroom. The same goes for my grandparents place, though their entryway is seperate and the mudroom leads to the backdoor. So in and around a mudroom/entryway is normal from my experience
