Glad to see that I am not the only one who is so crazy replacing the original screws with stainless or special screws. And cutting threads for the metric screws into the parts too. Your working space is so neat. Mine is so awfully crowded. I admire your style. No bullshit talking, discreet music and no loud crappy stuff. Watching your videos is like Zen Buddhism of RC modelling.

This car was one of my father's dream radio-controlled cars when he was a child. It was very expensive and not something that a child could afford, so he eventually gave up on buying it. I can't believe it's 30 years old, but it's so stylish.

The style of letterings on the tires, and the red hex wheel nut in conjunction with the red paint stripes make this Egress so much nicer. I think the gold upgrades on the various connectors are nice too. The lighting, camera angles and back ground music made your video very relaxing to watch.

I've watched this several times and I'm still amazed at your vision and precise execution of not only this build, but all your other creations... I started out in RC as a very young lad in the very early 80's with a Rough Rider, then bought and painted a Sand Scorcher body when I smashed the original, then upgraded (downgraded) to a Grasshopper when that was released. Wow, what a mistake, the power of the box-art fooled a very young me. My friend, on the other hand, went from a Frog to a HOTSHOT. And THAT car blew my mind. I personally believe the Hotshot was a groundbreaker because it enabled my best friend to humiliate some of the older "snobs" at our local track (who all had RC10's) by winning a third place in his first race! Long story but I now have a Hotshot after nearly 40years and I'd love to see your interpretation...... if not, carry on the good work anyway, I'll still watch hahaha
@MechanicAfterHours3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kester Stott! I appreciate the comment and message! That Rough Rider is an iconic piece of kit and part of RC history-it's truly what started the off-road RC buggy scene and got other brands into building their own off-road buggies. I've definitely thought about the Hot Shot many times and maybe one day will do a build.

@Eddienervous13 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I keep most of my useable polycarbonate cut offs, I make custom spoilers out of them and planned on one day making canards/ aero fins to apply to the right buggy. Can I ask where you purchase the carbon sheets? I’d like to try a wide body avante, next build. I have one black and 2 standard NIB ready to roll. I’ve just finished my super astute and about to start a Tamiya 1/25 RC panzer tank for something different. Thanks again 🙏🏼

I must admit, I'm rather jealous of your technique; so much cleaner than mine. I futz around with things while getting pieces to fit the way I want them, and for you, they all just seem to fall into place. I've been finishing a re-release of the Kyosho Ultima in the last couple of weeks, taking my time with the bodywork, which has been both frustrating as well as satisfying. Please, keep up the incredible work. Cheers.
@MechanicAfterHours3 жыл бұрын
Thanks again for watching! I posted something and it got deleted! Re-typing if I can remember all of it. I just wanted to say that I do come across problems too. On this build there where a few things that didn't fit nicely The other thing was the vintage ESC-I cleaned the circuit board and even re soldered some parts of the board and it still ended up glitchy. It runs but it needs to be replaced at some point. The motor's capacitor was broken and I tried to fix it because I couldn't find a replacement. However, I think because I have worked on 1:1 cars as a hobby some of these things I can power through. Bodies are still my least favorite for now. What I did was try to work on some challenging bodies in the beginning, like the TC-01(that was a tad insane) and the Beetle hard body. After working on those two, the rest seems easy. The Ultima is a sweet kit! I think that one has a really good balance of vintage and performance. Good luck with it!
@irritablearchitect3 жыл бұрын
@@MechanicAfterHours - Thanks. I agree on the vintage vs. performance comparison; it was ahead of its time in so many ways. I have the bulk of the build complete at this point, and was even able to finish the decals last night. Just a motor to fit and then testing/adjustments. It will most likely be a shelf queen anyway, so I don't know why I even bothered with electronics of any sort. Oh well.

At first i questioned your choice on replacing the self tapping screws with stainless machine screws but i understand that you are not a fan of the Phillips head kit screws. Following this i thought okay but then you could use titanium machine screws but they wouldn't add to the build because ultimately you are building a show-piece.
