You both are at the point where you need to start thinking about a small solar setup and battery backup. I am thinking (2) 400 watt panels and a Delta 3 Pro would set you all up very nice to power for tools and such. Keep up the great work!

Guys, you need to insulate the roof from the inside. After all, in winter it is through an uninsulated roof that most of the heat escapes.

1) Build a covered walkway to the outhouse. 2) build a bathhouse with a small tub and a shower. Figure out how to heat enough water. 3) build a carport for your car to protect it from snow and hail. 4) build an out door table and a couple of benches. 5) insulate the inside of the roof. 6) your homemade couch isn’t big enough for both of you, make it a bit longer. 7) Add some sort of folding table so you can write or draw . 8). Rest a lot 💖💖💖

The bathhouse is almost done. We'll have a video of it up in a month or two. I wish we could make the couch bigger but unfortunately there isn't enough space. We'll definitely build a bigger cabin the next time

Probably not. We have a second cabin like 50 feet away that's our bathroom and storage room and we plan to build some outdoor living space soon. So we are going to expand a little bit but it will be with separate structures to have more of a compound vibe.

How was the permitting process? It seems like most municipalities in the US won’t approve anything without plumbing and septic. I’ve been mostly nomadic for years and keep trying to buy land for a small dry cabin, but dealing with counties and townships that will allow one without tens of thousands in improvements I don’t need has been a nightmare.

In this jurisdiction there are no permits required for a dry cabin under 200 sq ft because it is within the definition of a shed.
