I took my son out for a winter camp. Was to be a couple inches of snow. We woke up to over a foot. Snow is a great insulator! 😄 Didn't have a tent stove back in the day, however the heat from the fire was tunneled to the tent wirh a dining canopy & kitchen setup. When the Ranger came by to check on everyone he said he was told we were tent camping so he didn't know what to expect & relieved we knew what we were doing. 😊 We set up a coffee hot chocolate station for the college kids that we out skiing the fire trails & they built snow forts with my son & made lil sleds. Ended up staying a week! 😊

I didn't know there were portable wood stoves! Nice! Where can I find them? Food looks amazing as always!😋
@2withnature2 жыл бұрын
Yup there are a lot of different sizes now, they've become really popular. This one can be found at Cabelas/Bass Pro and it's really nice but it's also a bit heavy to move around for camping. There are a lot of smaller and easier to transport stoves from Winnerwell and Pomoly that we've tried and work well depending on the size of the tent. This is a good one amzn.to/3AbZkQd unless you have a really large tent. The food was so good and on a cold day it's the most amazing thing ever. Thanks for the support Dana!

I like camping but that Northwest cold versus the southeast cold is different! I can camping 30 degree NC weather. Just going to Seattle at 30 degrees is a very different cold. A few drops of cold rain out there keeps me in the house! I still think Chicago cold is the coldest but Seattle cold is very close.

Yup, there's nothing worse than freezing rain. Packing up camp, disassembling metal parts when it's 31 degrees and raining is the worst, it just hurts.

Wow, a real winter wonderland! Now that's a lot of snow!! The Kodiak canvas hot tent look like good quality. I'm curious as to how many degrees the tent can heat up to with the stove when compared to the outside temps. I was considering a canvas tent (more so poly-cotton blend), however the maintenance to pitch and allow to dry once its wet is a factor as I dont have the space to set it up at home to allow to dry. My solution is using is a polyester tent with plastic PVC windows and sealable vents for ventilation (rather than mesh panels) for better insulation. I also use electric heaters and a heating blanket at night, but I can imagine the crackling sound of the fire in the stove must be so relaxing. Great video and dinner always looks so tasty!!
@2withnature2 жыл бұрын
The conditions were exactly what we were hoping for. When we filled the stove up (prior to cooking) it got very warm inside, probably 80-85 degrees and it was probably high 20's outside at that time. Canvas tents are a bit more work and maintenance for sure, we wouldn't use one unless we had a wood stove. And after packing up I hang it in the garage for a couple days to completely dry out. Your setup sounds good as long as you're not getting too much condensation inside your tent throughout the night. The crackling fire is really nice to listen to, but we usually wake up once or twice during the night to fill the stove with wood again, an electric heater can probably run all night without issue. Thanks for watching!
@cre8iveworks2 жыл бұрын
@@2withnature Oh wow, I didn’t realize the canvas tent can get that warm that fast! I’d really like to try a canvas tent - perhaps I’ll look into it further. Yes, my cold weather set up works pretty good for me and so far, I haven’t experienced any noticeable condensation. The two small space heaters for the living area and bedroom really does a good job at taking the chill out of the air during the day. At nights the heating blanket with a ThermaRest thermal sleeping pad keeps nights warm and toasty. Thanks for sharing your setup!
