Jason-- These Fabrication videos Are what IS Needed on the on the Tube. Most beginners have the ambition & motivation but lack the Ingenuity to overcome the littler problems that hold up the Major Project. Thank you for the extra that you put in to make these type of videos for us noobs. You Goooo Maaannnn.

Do like Halfass Kustoms does, and tack weld everything first. And when you know everything in fitting nicely, then, and only then, fully weld in place. It save the hard work of undoing all your welding work.

It is great to see these videos. Matt makes everything look so easy and doable. My attempts would look a whole lot more like yours where everything doesn't go right the first time. Sometimes perseverance is more important than talent. Please keep these coming for those of us that are not as advanced as others.

You always have to remember that nothing is ever easy or simple. Once you get past that, everything kinda falls into place... That is some great work on those patch panels and braces. Also remember that "tack-welding is your friend"... It will save you much time and grief when adjusting the fit on doors and body lines...

Thanks for sharing your progress on your truck. I'm at this same point on my truck with similar stuff going on. Between your truck and Matt's shop truck I should have enough info to build a Cool little truck. Thanks.

A really good video. I think the problem with these projects in the early stages is that there is always more work to get them sorted. I see it as a case of think how much time it will take and how much it will cost and then double both. This said the better you get things now the easier things will become later in the project. I also think it is essential to keep things moving so setting yourself little projects will be good to make steady progress. Don't think about the light at the end of the tunnel yet, just think about getting little stages done.

I've got the same thing going on with my 55 3100. I used bed rail angle rail (basically 1 1/2" angle iron) on the inside of my front and rear pillars (unseen areas after cover up) I didn't lay them flat, I actually welded them left and right sides to the inside pillars to give the pillars strength

You were mentioning not wanting to work in the cold. I had a buddy who replaced the front sheet metal on his 55 Chevy in JANUARY in an OUTSIDE, OPEN parking lot in southern Manitoba. He got so that he could work outside at -30 C without gloves for half an hour at a time! Of course, this is in Canada, where we're extra tough ... (Some of us, not me).

nice work, cramped spaces suck but better than outside for sure!

You call it dimple die, in the ACFT Industry they are called lightning holes. As it to lighten the material and give it strength at the same time. As a newbie subscriber I am really enjoying your project.

Do the door hinges need rebuilt? Can they be rebuilt? Sometimes, a good old-fashioned 2x4 under the door, with a strong lift or a yank, can get that slight alignment that you need for it. Hmm, maybe? 🤔 I wish you the best of luck on your bitchin project, my friend.
