Anyone can copy a tutorial for basic 3x wheel building in a day, but to fully understand the science behind it and build ANY wheel to any order, obscure lacing patterns, weird hubs, rim diameters, uneven spoke lengths can take a bit of experience. Once you've built a few, it becomes relatively easy, but somebody iconic like Steven "Steve Gravy" Gravenites has dedicated his life to absolutely science-geek spoke tension and having a perfectly true and round wheel.

Luna is an awesome company! I'm working on upgrading an Eunorau all wheel drive 26" fat bike that i purchased not working and partially torn apart. It came with a supposedly new replacement motor controller that looks like its been used already. I'm going thru the wiring and discovered the 1T4 throttle/display/ebrake x 2 cable has an intermittent short that is the reason it would go into "error" mode. Instead of just buying a new 1 into 4 cable, i've ripped down the resin encased solder joint and am rebuilding it and will solder, shrink boot and hot glue the joint I'm going to eventually put new high end hub motors and big amp controller along with a 2nd monster battery pack.

Love the podcasts, I work in electronics design and manufacturing so the content is fascinating. It sounds like you use an IR thermometer to check batteries, maybe try a Fluke Thermal Imaging Camera. When we are doing FA on prototype circuit designs, it really simplifies finding shorted components, traces or reflow. The visualization of the heat being radiated make it possible to pinpoint exact failure location immediately. It's not cheap gear, but it costs money to see things like the Predator.

If your still looking for ideas for battery packs I was wondering if you would be able to make a battery pack that also acts as a mud guard and has built in break lights and turn signals? You could probably have it so it slides down over the seat post and can tighten to it and also able to tighten to the fender mount holes and maybe connect to the back of the seat to make a complete seat/battery/mudflaps with break lights and turn signals. if the battery gets too heavy maybe add some suspension springs to the end if needed. And to make it really look sharp maybe add a surron type seat cushion too it. if you can do that I will be your first customer lol.

i like Mac / Bmc hub motors. I pack them with mobile one grease. I use high end mtb ‘s. Samsung cells last the longest. Cell technology will only get better. Hope I live to see it. I started upgrading Tidalforce bikes. Went up from there.

Please help. My battery is almost 2 years and it worked perfect until now, it's 52v 17.5ah unitpackpower sanyo ga cell. For some reason it charges only for 4 hours now instead of 8 and milage is twice as low. Master said the bms died but all 70 cells are good. I already ordered new bms on AliExpress and waiting for it. Question is can I ride in this situation until I install new bms? Why it can't charge fully? System shuts down when voltage gets to 50v. Can you explain how it all works? Is it only bms died as master said or something else could went wrong?

28:42 I miss my lipo backpack battery. Shit was safer than having it strapped down for sure. However, the ability to seperate bike from battery was the key function for me, as it’s the most expensive part of the whole bike for me usually and people = shit.

Because people want to hop on and go. Plus weight you need a heavy battery for 52v packs. And if you want to try someone's bike you have to put someone's sweaty back pack I've turned down riding a friends bike because I didn't want to put there pack on. Last I dont want a fireball strapped to my back.
