1500 watts is a good 2+ horsepower. Where I’m from there’s a road that comes off the mountain to town, pure downhill. when I was a kid on just a normal pedal bike I would reach speeds of about 80 - 100km an hour sometimes passing cars. I have had an old trek, I decided to make my own ebike with. My trek bicycle is the single track series 820 on a small 16 frame with 26" tires. ( Mountain bike) I removed the shifters for the gears and set it on a rider friendly gear setting, the chain is in the middle of both sprockets. I then upgraded my front fork to RockShox with disc brake mount. I also bought a universal adapter for the rear disc brake mount as this bike had rubber v brakes. Then I bought Shimano hydraulic disc brake kit. I bought a torque arm along with the violamart 1500 watt kit, rated for 48 volts. I then purchased a joyisi 52 volt 20ah triangle battery. ( This is safe for a 48 volt set up as the voltage drops as you ride the bike.) Let me just tell you folks I paid under $1,500 including the price of the bike. This setup will go 32 miles per hour with my fat ass weighing about 250 lbs. That's with full power, when you put it in 750 watt mode it will go 20 miles per hour. On full power I will get approximately 25 mile range traveling at 32 miles per hour, throttle only. When I put it in 750 watt mode I get approximately 50 miles throttle only. Now of course I do peddle, and usually travel in 750 watt mode. Which on average I get about 60-70 miles. I recently purchased a set of Continental smooth tires. I haven't installed them yet, but I feel I will get way better mileage as those tires will have less resistance. I'm also considering adding another battery pack that is installed on a back rack. The same company I bought my original battery sells a kit with a rack and battery. The bike will be heavy as hell but I would probably be able to double my range.

kudos. Thats not a bad starter kit there. I currently run a modified BBSHD @ 2kw via a phaserunner controller. I would like to see a higher end kit available though. Maybe one with a QS205? Other than a QS motor, I will stick with my mid drive.

I built my own ebike about 1.5 years ago, cheap 1000W kit on a walmart mt bike. It'll do about 20 miles on eco mode, on full power it'll do 28 mph but kills the range. 30mph on a wallmart bike is.... interesting.

@@stijnio11 The 20.4 ah looks good and fits snug. I need to build some type of cage so I can leave the battery in the bike when I lock it up. Any suggestions?

@@Tantium A Marlin 6 would work. Mind you, I had to take a hole saw and drill out both bottom brackets to get the motor to slide in. If you are ok with never having a non-motorized mountain bike again, then go for it. For me, it has already saved me a ton of money in fuel since I drive a Dodge 3500 Cummins with a camper on the back.

I'm interested in one of these kits, but can you say why are all the spokes bent?? It's like the hub/wheel combo is not correct. The spokes even enter the rim at an angle too - it just doesn't look right or like it's meant to fit.

would u do a video on DIY replacing the cells in these prebuild battery packs ? dunno if ya viewers would find it usefull.
@mattjohnston58074 жыл бұрын
Power tool batteries use the same high output batteries in ebikes. Alot of people are using laptop batteries not realizing laptop batteries are LOW output and will not make you go fast. If you know what you're doing then power tool batteries will save you hundreds.

@@mattjohnston5807 i only said it because years ago photonicinductions shown a video on how to replace a single cell in a power tool battery pack to save u replacing the whole pack and save u tens of pounds ( £100 for some branded packs )

@@girlsdrinkfeck Right on, thought I'd warn you just in case. I almost got suckered into getting a bunch of laptop batteries lol.
@girlsdrinkfeck4 жыл бұрын
oh no of course ud have to still buy the amp ratings that matches the other cells ,but still cheaper than buying a whole new pack when u can just order a pack of brand new cells and fit them into the same battery pack and its BMS, adding to that, the governments should make battery retailers and manufactures give money back to u if u return the used and damaged cells back to them, like we did with milk bottles and how they now do with plastic bottles ! itll encourage people not to throw batteries away in landfills and the companies will have the materials needed to make more new cells :)
@mattjohnston58074 жыл бұрын
@@girlsdrinkfeck No joke, the amount of thrown away batteries is just crazy. The battery business is a huge business like the oil business though so they want to make money off of people and not give them a good product usually. The only thing holding graphene tech back is the fact it will put alot of people out of business if they started manufacturing graphene batteries. Hopefully lithium batteries will just be an inferior battery soon.
