#ad On the path to generational wealth we go! I’ve teamed up with Ally to offer a 6-part series, “All Things Finance”, where you’ll get the progressive story of how I built my wealth and the financial lessons I’ve lived and learned along the way. After my big break as a Cheetah girl, I ended up moving into a “not so glamorous” apartment across the hall from my sister, Claudette, in NYC. Despite my newfound fame, we were both starting at financial ground zero at the same time. This is how we've individually built wealth and learned financial literacy to pass onto our future generations of family.

Growing up my dad always made an effort to make sure I was knowledgeable financially. One way he did it to expose me at a really young age (starting at 5) was having me work for chores (before I was old enough to get a job). With the allowance I got from chores I had to divide it into portions: spending/fun cash, savings (for my investing/5-29), and money to give at church. It was great and it really instilled the value of saving money and giving back rather than spending it all.

I love this video so much. I love how Claudette decided to homeschool her children instead of sending them to a private school. Growing up I was privately educated, and yes going to a private school provided me with the networks that I benefit from until this day, but I wasn't taught life skills. I went to university and was exposed to things I had no experience with. Life is a learning curve, but it is always better to learn this early than later. Congratulations Adrienne!! I have been praying for you constantly and I am so happy to hear that you are now blessed with motherhood.

I just love the thought and intention behind generational wealth. To inform kids about finances, budgeting,, investing and how much things cost is to set them up for success. I'm also so excited that Adrienne is a mom. Her baby is now part of such a loving, talented, creative and blessed family. And that is a blessing in and of itself. Plus it was good to hear Angie Martinez in the background. ❤

Transparency with money is a great idea... but my mom was VERY transparent with me as a kid. If you as a parent are not making enough or barely making enough it definitely can trigger some anxiety if your kids are empathetic like I was. I still give "Julius of Everybody Hates Chris" vibes to this day because of that little fear in the pit of my stomach. She would never know that though lol

Secondly, being so encouraging and supportive in what their own strengths are but to push them in directions of learning new things like languages, etc. In providing generational wealth, that’s amazing in itself. Love how you’ll be teaching the next generation. My parents would always talk about money and share their stress about money so from a young age I knew that things cost money and was always scared to ask for anything. I feel like I am barely recovering from financial trauma. I am just now allowing myself to spend on myself without feeling guilty because that’s how my parents always made me feel because money was tight. So i love how y’all are teaching your kids about money but in a healthy way so that they are knowledgeable rather than fearful. ☺️

Anything below that, I would feel uncomfortable with that information and burden on them.

PLEASE keep up this content and transparency because I feel like it’s endless but it’s worth so much. All of us Latinos know that finances is everything BUT a transparent topic, and you don’t let your kids know if you’re struggling or not. With this insight I’m learning that there’s a way to be transparent and bring awareness/knowledge while not causing any sort trauma among young ones who truly should learn because it’s that much harder to bring up when they’re older.

I appreciate this conversation you ladies are having about financial literacy. I believe this is important to knowing blessings earned can be spread in many facets and having a parent that's savvy in financial knowledge may open doors to establish stability and financial freedom

I’m obsessed with these two, as I’ve always wanted a sister and truly appreciate their love and admiration for one another...and their genuine friendship, because that’s not always guaranteed in family. I wish Adrienne would do a LIVE master class (w/ a Q&A at the end) on the first step she took (the turning point) when she began to build the right team around her and her success. I am so appreciative of the video she posted with Lana. But it’s almost like, after Lana looked at your finances, who did you add to your payroll next?? Was it an Accountant, Laywer, a Personal Assistant?? Either way, I’m rocking with A til the wheels fall off!! I can’t wait to see who EVER looks like and if he’s going to join the band/choir 😊❤. Thank you for existing and for always sharing different facets of yourself and life with your fans. ~Vernae~

One of the things that I was taught since a young age was to always plan to have at least “three months rent” available and set aside, so that at any time if I wasn’t able to make ends meet or something happen where I could not work, I would have funds set aside. And with that, if I was to need it and use it, then immediately plan on how I can save to get it back to the way it was, so I don’t depend on it being there without taking the time to put it back and set it aside. Even know I do this 😃

My children's generation will learn all of the money knowledge and literacy I learned because like you two said my generation, my mom and dad generation, my grandparents generation never passed on any of that knowledge. It goes back generations of lack of money information. My siblings and I are breaking that lack of money literacy with the next generation. Thank you so much for speaking on this because I thought my family was the only one who grew up like ya did. We grew u in similar situations as well as be our parent's translators too.
