THEORY: Cool and rare trap in the Three Knights Opening - 12:04 Bird’s Opening Dutch Theory (f4) 26:14 Queen’s gambit: you always play Be7 and later on Bd6. Don’t feel as if you’re wasting time. 36:54 QUIZZES: How would you convert this position? 40:39 What is the K.O. move here? 42:18 GENERAL NOTES - When attacking a pinned piece, try to add as much attackers to this piece as possible 20:20 - When up material, the priority is to TRADE pieces (and not get pawns) - When you have the pair of bishops and your opponent only has one, don’t trade it. It doesn’t matter if you have to retrieve your bishop all the way back. - Practice keeping the tension in the center. Unless your opponent has to take it with his queen, in which case you can win a tempo over her. Endgames • If you haven’t made your random pawn moves, do it • Control the columns • Passed pawns: When opponent has a passed pawn, try to block its way with a piece. Opponent blocking yours: if you have more defenders than necessary, you can move one of those pieces to do something else 41:10 What to do when your opponent has an isolated pawn? > Block it with your bishop 38:53 > Trades are good! > Take it with a piece, not a pawn

TIMESTAMPS: Only really meant to highlight specific moments. And it can allow you to skim through the video. But a lot of simple habits Aman plays is useful to watch and learn from. + *(**0:45**) - GAME 1: [WHITE, GIUCO PIANO: MAIN LINE]* - REVISING exd4, d5. With Bb5. - Generally instructive gameplay. + *(**11:30**) - GAME 2: [WHITE, THREE KNIGHTS: 3…Bg4]* - (11:48) PAUSE. White to Play and Win Material or Mate in 3. -- DON’T CONTINUE READING UNTIL YOU’VE TRIED IT. - (12:53) Legall’s Mate!! Nice tactic to remember, and it can transpose both from the Philidor Defense and Three Knights Opening. + *(**16:03**) - GAME 3: [BLACK, BIRD’S OPENING]* - Uses a similar setup we use in response to d4. - (17:16) Where do your rooks want to go? -- NOTE what plans Aman has in mind when play e8. - (25:56) NEW THEORY: 1.f4, d5 (using a similar setup to d4, d5) -- REMEMBER a6, AFTER e3, to stop Bb5 and prevent the possibility of doubling your pawns there. + *(**31:02**) - GAME 4: [WHITE, CARO-KANN DEFENSE]* - WINNING WITH AN OPENING TRAP - Revising an opening trap where you hang your Queen. + *(**35:03**) - GAME 5: [BLACK, QGD]* - Instructive gameplay with the improved move order of Nd7 when the Bishop pins. - (36:34) NOTE that you shouldn’t feel like you’re wasting moves when you move your Bishop again. - (38:08) STRATEGY: Playing against an Isolated Pawn -- Trades are good. Take back with pieces in front of the pawn. + *(**44:23**) - GAME 6: [WHITE, SCANDINAVIAN DEFENSE]* - Generally instructive gameplay. - (52:50) ATTACKING STRATEGY: Pawn moves on the Kingside whilst bringing over the Rooks. + *(**53:39**) - GAME 7: [WHITE, SICILLIAN DEFENSE]* - K.O!! Not to any Opening Trap but Punishing Mistakes made by the Opponent. + *(**54:51**) - GAME 8: [WHITE, MODERN DEFENSE: STANDARD]* - Generally instructive gameplay against Double Fianchettoes. - (56:48) NOTICE that Aman keeps the tension instead of taking d5. As part of Level 3 Habits, he recommends keeping the tension. And instead of playing e5, he recommends keeping it open.

My rapid rating is 1300 but my 5 min chess rating was at 800 for the longest time. I thought 5 minute chess just wasn't for me; but after following the golden habits, I was able to reach 1100 in a few short days.
@jayyy52703 жыл бұрын
Yeah rapid let's you get away with a lot of bad habits and limited opening knowledge if you can calculate better than that rating can on average.
@jayyy52703 жыл бұрын
At one point I was around 1200 in blitz and 1700 in rapid. And that was before they added 150 points to everyone's rapid(3 years ago). Now rapid is around 2100 and blitz 2000, also in large thanks to this series. I didn't even play blitz again until It came out.

@@jayyy5270 wooahhh. congrats bro! you are killing it.
@TheHipHopVlog3 жыл бұрын
@@jayyy5270 also, this is a random question. But I've notice that rapid elo tends to be higher than Blitz elo. That is until you see people around 2000 rating. that's when Blitz either becomes higher or even. Why do you think that is? or maybe I'm just straight up wrong.

01:35 what to do if White plays 6.cxd4 ? The best move (not a Habits move necessarily) is 6...Bc4+. The usual Basic Habits response when the Bishop gets attacked is 6...Bb6, but this seems to be catastrophic for Black after 7.d5 gives White a +2 advantage this early in the Opening. Do I chalk this one up to an expected loss for the Habits player? Or do I play 6...Bc4+ and try to get back to Habits as quickly as possible? Thoughts?

@Twas-RightHere3 жыл бұрын
Nxe5 is met with Nxe5. You're a piece down and he can force the trade of light squared bishops, that's why he had to wait for the black knight to move.

@@kellytan9166 Firstly, the queen can't get to b5, so I'm assuming you mean Bb5. Secondly, that move doesn't fork anything. And lastly, he has c6, where the bishop and queen are both still attacked. Ok now you get two pawns for the piece instead of one, but still better for black.
