The contractor they hired is a South African guy named Adriaan Diedricks w Orange Kite Construction in Dumaguete. Bad news.

Maligayang Pasko Brian and Tess 🎄🎅 I chose to be an owner-builder of our house in Legazpi. Hired an architect to generate the detailed plans and bill of materials, and a bicolano speaking supervisor. Did the purchasing and payroll. Was on site almost every day for QA/QC reasons. Labour was hired on a daily rate. Not using a contractor means you save their profit margin and VAT potentially saving 25-30%. Enjoyed your vlog mate. Cheers

Daily rate, no money up front so you can make sure the workers arrive and leave on time coz they want their salary 😁 The contract figure to do the shed was more than double what I've spent so far. Not finished yet but I think we'll save around 40% actually. Time will tell. Thanks for watching and enjoy your New Year mate 🦘✌️

I believe it depends upon the complexity of the build, we built a sari sari store from the United States and supervised every aspect from here. But a home with the complexities of water evacuation, solar and everything else involved deported upon your skills and knowledge

I was scammed out of about 2 million pesos from my house contractor ( A relative of my Filipina wife) Plus about another 500,000 pesos of bad work that I had to redo. So after that my next 4 construction projects I was the general contractor and only hired my own foreman and he hired his crew. Because he had all the contact of the local skilled people that did good work and made him look good! NEVER again will I ever hire a contractor anywhere in the world!

I know it can be very frustrating with the contractors and builders of any type to get them organised and concentrate on doing a top job as far as frustration goes for a Foreigner especially because the building standards are completely different, and not knowing if you have hired a scammer or not. Anyway I'm looking forward to seeing the completion of the shed of grid it is coming along nicely getting closer to the time that I can move in thank you very much😂 I forgot to make an comment on the last video on how good the build is looking so far. Well a daily rate means there is no "contract" effectively, and then you can see if a bonus is worth paying upon completion of work although I'm now changing builders so there will be no such thing happening here 😁

If you build a house that is worth more than a nippa hut, get a good architect and he or she can build one for you,,however make sure you have reliable references for the architect,, he or she will have a general contractor they use normally,, if you need one I have 3 I have known for years ,, they are impeccable at their job..thanks for sharing,,take care,,😊

There are many people who have been affected by bad contractors,,weather they are on KZbin or not,,, problem is they don’t know anything and they don’t do their homework,,if you’re married to a local woman and this is in any country you want to build in make sure she is a little bit smarter than others,,because you don’t speak the language and if she doesn’t have any knowledge or smart enough to understand what you need you better get a good lawyer first and also a good bank manager,,to help you,,otherwise best of luck or just rent a nice house,,😊
