My secret source for materials like microwaves, mini fridges, and other small appliances is visiting large universities near move out season when then semesters are ending. Students through that stuff out or give it away some time when moving out. Bonus points if you can get on campus.

Have you seen those microwave crucibles? They heat up over 1000°c people make ruby with it at home, melt glass, cast iron ingots. If you get a large enough crucible or enough of them, you can turn almost anything into carbon and pyrolysis it. Or, once things are shredded, wrap it in insulated cloth. Like they use in a furnace. It will keep all the heat inside the wrapped up material and pyrolysise it faster.

How about desiging a unit to use all new everything? So have a target like fitting in a 20' shipping container. Design in CAD focusing on using off the shelf (as much as possible) componates. Like just buying steel tube to the correct size. Finding commercial microwave units. Get the whole thing built in CAD so it can be priced out. Try to develop a complete system. Plastic in one end, power out the other. Completly automated. Have AC power generation, liquid fuel & gas fuel capture. Also, the 3rd product, the coal or soot, needs to have a process developed to use it. I see these units being a perfect solution for remote areas to deal with plastic waste. So what ever solution for the coal product has to take the remote area into consideration. As an example, remote island that plastic has been washing ashore for decades. Plop down one of these units & now the plastic has value. But what will they do with the coal soot? All this need to be figured out in CAD & on paper. Then the $ will flow in.

Yeah that’s a valid point. I was wondering and thinking how the footprint could be smaller? How to maintain the internal temperature with as little heat loss as possible. So that the chamber can use less energy becoming more efficient. In theory they make coating that minimize the feat transfer on one side. Also how high could the internal temperature reach before it becomes ineffective or should a higher inner temp make it process faster. I was thinking gravity fed inlet. Like you agitator how wring if the agitator was also a heat source if that would produce benefits? Yes he had a great point about utilizing all byproducts. The refinery is going to be the most expensive or if possible maybe current refineries can be utilized for the refinement maybe if not completely comparable an attachment or addition can be added to existing refineries. You probably thought of all that but maybe that will assist you in some way in the future. Be safe brother

@@agileep the key in life is to be able to see the issue from multiple points of view. In an urban environment the 3rd product can be used in asphalt. But, I have a remote location bios. As urban options might make microwave pyrolysis non competitive. When it comes to nonremote scenarios, ByFusion ByBlock is a better option currently.. Art is always the last solution, but a solution non the less. Can we mix the 3rd product with something to get a 3d printer filament?

@@GudasWorld what you are thinking neighbor centers for deposits? Maybe what a townhouse development might have a facility in the development? I mean not like I know the power requirements vs the production. Like if you had a generator hooked up if the fuel output would be more the fuel consumed for energy? I mean could you throw a power wall at it and it can have a (I think it called) a net positive return?

I have a question about the magnatrons. If you oriented them where the 'top' of the tank would you get better efficiency? What I have researched so far is that the microwaves travel linearly. As well as certain metallic materials being able to reflect the microwaves. So I'm curious why you chose that certain orientation.

Could you hav3 it run on the coal or gas it produces its self?
@petevenuti735511 ай бұрын
You can, a generator to burn the gas to power the magnetrons. The raw carbon in something like a wood gasifier. But he is using the carbon fed back into the process as a microwave susceptor and catalyst. The extra is better sold compressed into blocks or pellet to replace coal or coke in steel and concrete manufacturing.
@oiyaidiot11 ай бұрын
@petevenuti7355 I meant just ditching the magnetron and using the gas in a blow torch basically. And does this coal from plastic burn hotter?
@petevenuti735511 ай бұрын
@@oiyaidiot more surface area, it would be plausible, haven't tested. Considering the residues, you better burn it hotter to meet emissions standards.
