Building Martha Stewart's Cat Window Perch
For our Special Thanksgiving movie, we'd like to celebrate something we're thankful for - and that's our shop cats! Finn and Cooper love to look out the windows and watch all the birds, so we found a cool DIY Cat Perch by Martha Stewart on Pinterest that we decided to DIY. We used a piece of our old workshop bench top for the wood, then we made a nice vegetable tanned leather cushion and edge binding. We topped it with a piece of shearling that makes this cat perch very fancy!. The DIY Cat Window Perch was then finished with solid brass hardware.
They love it! We're so happy to give them a special spot in the sun :)

You got lucky! Hard work for cats typically results in a "Meh" reaction. They never look at it again and like to play with the scraps. "Yes, I'm looking at you Maya! What happened to the wall stairs I built for you? Now who will explain the holes in the wall to our landlord?" *looks with her deep green eyes* "Okay, I go get material for a cat bed on the window."

I too, have a Sphynx Cat. I was wondering if you were covering that beautiful leather, protecting it from the oil from their skin. BUT..then it would only make that leather even more beautiful! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS. I happened upon this video because I was searching for a window perch for my cat, Harry! (Yes, hairless cat named Harry. He gets a bunch of laughs). I don’t want a run of the mill, store bought perch. Who would when you have such an unusual cat. Right? Anyway..he is special to me, he is white like yours, blue eyed. Unfortunately, born deaf. I have taught him hand signals. He makes my heart full! Do you sell these perches to the public? I certainly would spoil Harry, with one of these beautiful perches!!

My Cats usually get the Scrap-Peaces of Leather from cutting... I See in KZbin a lot of Leather-Folks with Cats, so hoping someone willl come up with a Pattern for a nice little Cat-Toy you can make from small Scrap peaces... Just saying *whistles... 😹

I don't understand, all that work for a beautifully constructed leather "pillow" to then hiding it under a $10 fake fur!! So many hand and power tools required and so many steps to built that cushion and we don't even see it (????).
