I have warthog mining on my 2013 mac pro trashcan. Its not profitable but provide 400w of free heat in a quiet and compact package.

Verus hash just spiked to over 6.6th one of the least earning coins now unless t keeps going up.

I did a bunch of data collection from the 12 rigs I am running on Warthog: Top two rigs are both running 7950x CPU, top miner has a 4080 Super yielding 1.05gh while the second place is running a 4060ti and a 3070 for 1.01gh. 3rd place is a 5950x with a 4070ti and a 4060ti hashing at 937mh. 4th place is a 5950x with duel 3090 gpus running at 970 hash. 5th is a 5950x with a 4060ti and a 6800 AMD for 886 mh, 6th is 3950x with a single 3090 for 755 mh, 7th is a 5950x running a single 3070 for 707 mh. 8th is a 7950x3d with a 4060ti for 611 mh , 9th is an I7 10700F with a 3090 for 433 mh, 10th is a 5600x with a 3090 for 360mh, 11th is a 5600x and a 4060 ti with 332 mh, and last is an I7 with a 2080 super for 302mh. I am not running any tweaks or clocking as I don't have time to make adjustments. I recorded wattage that Herominer was giving but not at the wall because I have 2 or 3 rigs to each metered psu. Most of my big rigs are mining Aleo. But it does seem the higher thread count on CPU is a factor.

Bought a cheap Epyc combo on Ebay for a Warthog build. That was a bit of a gamble but working great so far. That's probably the cheapest way to build a decent Warthog rig IMO. Those Ryzen 9s don't come cheap. Throw in an AM5 mobo and some DDR5 ram and you rack up a bill...

What epyc? Depending how warthog does these rigs can easily move over and mine anything cheaper epycs may lack the L3 cache to support other coins verus doesn't need the L3.

@@RabidMining the 7551. Got it with the mobo and 4 sticks of ram for 500$. It does around 50MH on verus. With a 3080 you get 905 MH on janushash at 450W. But I keep the 3080 on aleo and put 2 MI50 (server radeon VII) in it for roughly the same hash and consumption.

Limiting factor is definitely cpus on warthog, it’s hit and miss it seems with convos. Thank you for doing this video, debating on getting a 7950x

I am building two more CPU mining rigs, but I am thinking the 7950x3d might be more energy efficient than the 7950x. So far I have two of each and I tend to favor the x3d over the regular x. Cost is a little bit more, but the 3d also gives me the flexibility to run the system without a GPU (can run multiple GPUs in Octominer or in other systems).

I tried doing a dual 4060 ti with a 3900x but it seems to not be much better at 620 mh @ 360 watts compared to the 515 @ 245 watts. Also noticed the pcie 4 slot runs at 10.42gbps bandwidth, while the pcie 3 slot runs at 2.82 gbps bandwidth. Guess that's because i don't have enough pci-e lanes. Did you ever try putting more than 1 gpu on your 7742 that has 128 pci-e lanes?

I run hiveos so in will test that.👍 I get 600ms janus but with 400watt from the wall . 3060ti and 5800x CPU. Should be able to tweak that alot i think
