Recommendations: Instead of buying a whole stack of different sized dumbbells for you to work with, you should buy an all in one dumbbell (the one that has multiple plates that you can easily switch through) to save space. Instead of buying a normal adjustable bench, buy a a bench that is suitable for bench pressing (extra wide back rest) which can be moved around according to what exercise you do. You should definitely invest in a power rack that can be used when seated and standing ( since the ceiling is to low for overhead press, you can move the bench inside the cage and do them seated but having the half cage links on the side which would provide extra safety for you). Definitely invest in a good all in one adjustable cable machine which has a lot of attachments so you are basically covered with extensions in all body parts (rope, d-handles, small bar, ez bar, pull up bar etc.) (Alternatively there are an all-in-one power rack options but from what I've seen its easier to have two separate machines instead of an all in one) I mainly focus on the big three exercises (squat, bench, deadlift) so it would be nice to have a deadlift platform where you can deadlift without worrying about the floor or noise or slipping. I have no idea how much space you have so that is an extra addition. But for the other two it would be really good for you to buy a deadlift bar and a squat bar. Good luck on the rest of the build and I'm excited to see them GAINZZZ!

just for future reference never put flooring down first the flooring should be installed last to prevent scratches dents and other damages that could be caused and also it would be a faster process when painting
@jonahthrane8122 жыл бұрын
Also saves time, because then you don't need to put down protection to paint because if you're going to cover it up anyway you wouldnt care if it gets a few spots of paint on the concrete.
@MrOtbc2 жыл бұрын
Also as you built a new suspended floor, you should insulated it as well. You would have saved 30% extra warmth that’s generated through the air conditioning unit. Otherwise I love it! Good job. 👍

That's a really nice set up you got yourself. I always wonder with these types of builds though if there is enough ceiling height to be able to comfortably lift a barbell over your head without damaging the ceiling and also if the floor is strong enough to survive that barbell if dropped from that height repeatedly.

Space looks insane! Highly recommend looking at getting a half rack (esp/blk box) with an adjustable bench over a power rack to maximise space, and ideally place central to a mirror so you aren't looking at a join in the mirror, a DAP from technogym/keiser pulley or Bulldog adjustable pulley, and a vertical DB stand to reduce the footprint (PENT also do some high end looking dumbbells). Also recommend getting the Technogym Ride and Concept 2 rower for the cardio kit. Rubrig do some very high quality rubber tiles which you would look good with a stainless steel threshold step up. N.B. If you look up Technogym Architects Area you can find 3D icons for all their equipment you can input into the 3D design to get a better idea of how you want it to look.

Hey Kon, I doubt you’ll see this but you might want to look at “horse stall mats” as a flooring option, laminate tends to dent and crack when dropping dumbbells/barbells or doing deadlifts etc. 15-20mm thickness is perfect for a gym.

If you're building a home gym, I suggest that you invest on power racks or smith machines. That way, you can save a lot of space because most of the compound workouts that you can do can be down within those equipments.
