Thanks Rhett for posting this video. It’s because of this video that I first learned of the Boss ES-5, researched it and learned of the Boss MS-3. Although the ES-5 doesn’t work quite well for me, the MS-3 has eliminated 8 pedals and 1 power supply from my rig! I’ve tested it out fully-loaded and I’m using it for my first gig tomorrow. If all goes well for the next 20 gigs, I’ll be permanently switching. Thanks again.

I've been putting together my own boards for years and I STILL get stumped ALL THE TIME. It's a tricky job. Building a quality board, especially with a midi controller, is not easy AT ALL. Especially when it comes to powering everything. I have a board that has a ton of different power needs and use the same C12 Onespot, only thing it doesn't have is a courtesy outlet. But it'll power damn near anything. Including an HX Stomp or Helix. The Ciocks power supply and Walrus Audio are very nice too. Big props for this build. It's beautiful, professional looking and works perfectly it seems. I'd LOVE to have that guy build me a board. If you ever come across a really good builder, make sure you ALWAYS treat them right. They know things you'll never know about putting together a great board.

Plus my vintage memory man and arion SAD-1 analog delays. Strymon is meh. The big sky sounds good for like two different things. And other verbs do the same plus more even better. It needs to be updated bad. And the rest of their pedals, eh

I have completed my first ever pedalboard build using Boss, MXR, Line 6, Keeley, Catalinbread, Mr Black and TC Electronics pedals. I have installed them onto a Pedaltrain Classic Pro board with a Voodoo Labs Mondo for the power. I am so happy with how it has turned out. I also decided on using Evidence Audio SIS1 Monorail cable, because I want a silent pedalboard, I know there are other cables that can do the same thing, but I just preferred to use Evidence Audio...

Looks awesome ... sweet pedals. I went the GigRig route wanted the G2 but wow it's expensive. So quartermaster it is ... into the dry signal - Boss tuner, Dunlop Cry Baby, TS9, Boss compression. Into the wet side MXR Phase 90, Boss flanger, Keeley Caverns, Boss digital delay. Saving up for the last two. Neo Ventilitor II Leslie emulator and an Angry Charlie.

I LOVE my ES-5. It's awesome. That's a great board. The only thing I see you might wish was different is that you don't have a spot for a CTL IN switch that would give you two extra buttons for the ES-5. I use one for global tap tempo and one for the hold function on my BigSky (I set it to latching, so it acts more like a Freeze.)

For the 18v outputs, one spot make a 18v to 9v adapter so you can power either 2 pedals or just run one that drops it down to 9v

Nick kain they do make adapters or you can mod internally (I’ll show that on our page). However the pedals we paralleled draw about 10-20 mA each and had no issue so we didn’t explore that option.

Great board Rhett! The Boss switcher is a great choice. I’m intrigued to see the video about the bespoke MIDI cable. I use a Midi Solutions box which works great but is one extra think to mount and wire.

Matt Bolton We should have the video up in a few days, I think you’ll like what we’re doing here, basically it serves the same function as what you have just makes it more simplified and does the splitting at the source of the MIDI connector, instead of internally with your midi solutions box. Definitely more of a space saver, than a functional thing.

Building a “dream” pedal board is one of the easiest projects you could ever plan to do. Its really not that dificult until you actually start putting it together. Thats the only part I’ve ever had any real problems with. Mason is AMAZE-BALLS! He makes it look as easy as i always imagine it will be to put together a tight board where all the cables disappear and all the pedals “get along” etc etc… But somehow - my boards always seem to end up with most of my favorite old (unruly) pedals earning yet another “time out” in the penalty box, with layouts that look like some kind of angry noodle salad or something.

I bought 2 step down voltage converters that 1 spot makes because I was pretty bummed that the cs12 didn't let me use all 12 power sockets. With the 2 adapters I get 11 usable power sources all 9v center negative. Who knows, someday I might end up with something that uses that AC jack. That is a pretty stunning build you have there though.

Awesome board! Can you explain how the loops and midi are connected and the signal? Can you make many possible routings for the loops and strymon? For example, can you have a loop that is clean+mobius+delay and another one that is distortion+delay+reverb, just by pressing a button?

Couple of things....1. That's a killer board!! 2. For a long time I've been reading on forums and such about the things Vertex did a few years back and at this point I don't know for sure if I'm ready to spend my hard earned money with them. But, I will say this. If he's genuinely made restitution, finally come clean (even if it took a few tries to do it) and he's doing good things for folks then I'd say, Mr Maragella, please keep it up. The only way to overcome our past is to keep doing the opposite of what we're ashamed of. I have no stones to throw. I've done some incredibly selfish, bonehead things in my past that I deeply regret. And I try every day to not be that man. Hopefully Mr Marangella is as genuine as he appears as I do find several of his products very interesting and there's a part of me that wants to give it a go.

Rhett, Thank you for some great videos. Would there be any chance of you making a video, where you discuss pros and cons, on whether to build your own pedal board or rather go for buying a Helix 6 (or similar league)? Perhaps in a dialogue with your friend Beatto. I love my pedalboard with Strymon and Chasebliss pedals and the like. However it does cost a lot to have premium pedals, not to mention carrying the board around. Would appreciate your perspective.

I have a very similar setup with keyboards instead of guitars. Timeline, Mobius and BigSky in combination produce amazing sounds. Even better if Timeline is paired up with a looper pedal. Throw something like a Korg MS-20 or even something as old as 05r/w on the input, and you'll be making dream sounds. I remember the first time I sat down to play with the pedal board. I ended up with a hundred post-it notes all over my wall, trying to document all the accidental finds. With Strymon, you really need a MIDI controller to dump/load presets, or you'll end up having pages and pages of notes.

Rami Muurimäki all mounted with standard rack screws. The bridge has PEM nuts embedded so we don’t have to worry about washers.
