For next project, consider pre-coating each cup or basket (on the inside) with silicone+substrate to hide the rim or visibility of the plastic inside. You gotta do it long enough in advance to allow the silicone to cure but it's worth it.

my painting experience is mostly limited to miniatures, but i have found that basic cotton swabs work really well for dry brushing fine details. they are super cheap, which is good, because in my experience dry brushing tends to destroy the brush you are using pretty quickly. basic cotton balls would probably work well for dry brushing larger objects like the rock wall in this video.

It looks so good! I am currently building a 18x18x24 mourning gecko and dart frog bioactive! I just did the background last week! I have a glass bowl in the top that I filled with water and put a fogger in it! The water fogs down the back ground and looks amazing! I can not wait until I grow my channel more over the summer and I am able to do stuff like this in the future!

Great video. Lots of useful info. I have a question: I would like to try a waterfall/pond into a large enclosure for a snake. I was thinking about doing it with a separate container for the water. So, instead of building a pond inside it could be like a plastic tub done up with spray foam and then painted and sealed to look similar to your pond idea. I would try it with an external pump/filter so it would be a tube in the “pond” tub going to the pump and a tube from the pump to the top of the water fall. Think this sounds like a decent idea?

I know this isn't normally important because it shouldn't even be a big deal - but it's so great to see more women (and cute ones, at that - take that, stereotypes lolol) in the plant/herping world striving to make realistic, bioactive setups for their babies and generally being involved with these awesome animals. They really do make fabulous pets, and building them homes is the best feeling. I'm not really the type to hang out with people who'd scream at the sight of a snake in general - but none of my galpals actually kept any of their own reptiles growing up, so it's so refreshing to see the hobby become more and more inclusive to women, LGBT+ people etc despite there being people (aka dicks) who're still grumbling and ignorant. They can all suck it, 'cause this makes me so so happy. Pay 'em no mind, you have a good eye for the construction aspect of your tanks and with only a little more experience and time, I believe you could be on SerpaDesign's level with your own style. Keep it up, you have a new sub and I look forward to see your development as a mini-biome artist! :3

I’ve been watching your videos for at least 2 years now and I absolutely love them. I have two ball python, a savannah monitor, and a leopard gecko. But my question is. How do you keep your Leo’s calm? And not stressed? I handle my leopard for 5 minutes. I feed her once in 3 days. Her tank is the perfect temp and it’s the perfect humidity. I also did my research. But she’s still stressed. I also hang out her enclosure. So she can get used to me.

@@KristenLeanneVlog well.... there’s honestly too many things to bunch up Into one message. Ill just start with the most important one. The plexiglass glass being used to waterproof something is a really bad idea. You’d be much better off going to your local mirror and glass shop and getting a piece of 1/4” glass cut to the size you need, doesn’t need to be tempered or anything special.... just plain ol 1/4” glass with polished edges.

@@KristenLeanneVlog there’s a much easier method to making the background look basically the same as you did, with drylok and quikrete cement colors... you don’t need to seal it. The plants should have been completely rinsed of the substrate they were in.... basically down to the roots, and then use ABG in your little pots. Also, some drift wood would really help your overall tank drastically. The decision to do the background 1/2 in silicone and substrate and the other half in the foam and whatever you covered with just looks odd to me and un natural. I would have blended the 2 much more for a less drastic contrast between them... these are obviously just my opinions on how to help make your Vivarium more successful. I’m not a master or anything.
@KristenLeanneVlog
@KristenLeanneVlog 3 жыл бұрын
@@TroyGoldberg I did say in the beginning of this video, as well as in the title, I've never even done a vivarium before so maybe sharing these things you've now shared rather than leaving a judgemental emoji would be the right thing to do? I have used thick plexiglass when building a water tight area for my bullfrog and it's held up for 2 years just fine. So I think either glass or a thick plexiglass works sufficiently. I appreciate the commentary and tips (finally). Thank you.
