@thunderstruck10783 жыл бұрын
Great job Jesse. You'll never be sorry you used concrete, I'm convinced. Here in Europe, on top of concrete (which is what everyone does) you'll find in 99% of cases ceramic tiles for bathroom and kitchen and wooden floor for the rest of the house (called parquet, 22mm thick, usually oak, less often beech). This type of wooden floor is great for maintenance. You can refinish it many times (every 15 years or even less often, since it's usually covered with carpet). Both are great for transmitting heat of the radiant floor heating system to the surface. Merry Christmas!

Tiles in a kitchen is a bit 90's, atleast in the Netherlands and Austria. Also a lot of house, especially new ones use PVC flooring since it's very effective to let the floor heat through.
@RubenKelevra2 жыл бұрын
Well, actually we don't often pour concrete floors... it's much more common to use prefabricated slabs and just fill in the cracks. We also don't do floor heating within concrete. It's usually put into a layer of screed we put on top of the concrete. The screed will detach the flooring from the concrete and avoid cracking of tiles etc. While I love wood flooring I wouldn't recommend it if you have floor heating. It insulated quite well and heating takes a lot of time. So in the children rooms you can do something like cork flooring, which is quite nice for children, but in the rest I would actually use tiles or vinyl flooring because of less thermal insulation.
@RubenKelevra2 жыл бұрын
@@Xboxers well it depends. Tiles have had quite a comeback with those very large tiles and natural stone ones. So black natural stones like slate are quite nice and definitely trendy right now. But I prefer the simplicity of PVC. You can just replace individual pieces and it's simply glued to the ground like carpeted floor.

My thoughts exactly. Seems more interesting than watching a wood frame house being built. I live in a concrete house, but not built like this one. Our house doesnt have insulation on the walls and was made / built in the early 1950's. I am not sure if it is a pre-fab house, but all outer walls are concrete. Concrete floor downstairs and wood beams / joists and floorboards upstairs.

@pongmonkey3 жыл бұрын
Man, great job! As far as regulating heat, you could use a controller that schedules the water temperature based on outside air temperature. This house is going to be so efficient! The trick is to use the lowest possible temperature to keep it from overshooting on a call for heat and then taking too long to lose the heat. This place will probably be comfortable using 75-85 degree supply water (maybe less) temperature at 40-0 outside air temp. Try to keep the system running (not over cycling). That will very much depend on not over sizing the heat pump and hydronic pumps. Also, a modulating compressor/variable refrigerant heat pump makes this much more possible! Sorry for the large paragraph.
