Welcome back!
Today I continue with the oven build and actually get it completed!
First up was to build the door, get it attached and fit the clasps so the door would seal nicely. Sadly I had realised I had made a monumental error when building this though...
I had taken in to consideration the side lengths when building all the side panels so that the total side lengths would be 2m total each side but what i hadn't considered was the total length! D'OH!
Thankfully it wasn't a massive issue and I effectively installed 2 sections of the C stud wall inside the oven to create a door seal only!
with that all fixed all I then had to do was attach the door seal which in all honesty I could do with replacing for something a little bit more substantial but it will do for its first test run next weekend!
I cannot wait to be able to powder coat my own parts this will be a game changer and will help me massively on the MR2 build as I want to try and powder coat as much as I can taking the years off the car by having all the parts freshly coated.
I will also give a full rundown on how much this oven was to build when we get it fired up and see if it can actually cook parts properly!
Thank you all for watching and don't forget to please subscribe to the channel for more automotive content like this! I would like to say a massive thank you to those that have subscribed and helped me get over that magic 1000 subscribers now lets make it 2,000!

Use nutserts and screws in the clamps. That is what i used and they will not come loose or pull out. Good job on the oven.

Thanks 😀 I did contemplate nutserts. I will possibly be making another at some point and will more than likely use those next time ✌🏻

Use a temp gauge off a barbecue on the front door. You can use a simple gas heater instead of electric too just build a little box over the flame & the fan will move the hot air round

Thanks for the tip, I got a digital temp gauge and put inside and cut a piece out the front which works well. Yea the gas heater route i think is the better option and probably heat better. I may make some adjustments to it this year if i can find the time

Hi. Great job, I was looking forward to seeing the end result. Once the good weather comes back I will be tackling the brakes on my jaguar xe in which you uploaded a video a while ago. Great job to you and wish me luck. CHEERS

Nice job. I've been toying with a similar idea for myself for doing motorbike parts for myself, so it will be good to see how well the oven performs. How many watts/amps do the oven elements add up to? From my very limited electrical knowledge a 13 amp plug can handle 2800 watts. The one thing that made me cringe watching the video, was the grinding sparks going towards the car. I used to be panel beater/ painter in my previous career and grinding near a vehicle was a no no.

Thanks pal! I’m not entirely sure what the elements add up to sadly their was no information on the oven whatsoever however the largest bottom element which was the grill looks like a 2.8kw element and the fan assist oven element looks to be either a 2 or 2.4kw element so if I had them both on would exceed the 3.8kw limit however After turning it on last week I realise I won’t be using the large grill element at the bottom I’ll be using the smaller one at the bottom with was the deceive ovens element which is probably 1.5kw element so with both oven elements on it will he 3.5/3.9kw total. I had it running last week and everything seemed ok temps on plug and cable where good but I now have bought a heavy duty plug and some 6mm twin and earth cable so hopefully keep things a bit safer. Yea grinding sparks whereby great sadly space at a premium in the unit 🤦🏼‍♂️ Jason

Thanks pal! I’m not 100% sure just yet will be firing it up tomorrow so will see then. I’m guessing a while though based on the size

Yea mate cheers sorry for the late reply I've got an oven I built about the same size with 2 elements out of an oven and it takes roughly 55min to reach 200°c but I think I've got some heat escaping from the door seal but would be interesting to see how yours goes

@@craiglee1274 had it on today and Iv made an issue there’s some temperature sensors that screw on the back panel only thing is I had screwed them on the back of where the oven is gonna get hot I should have screwed them on the furthest back panel as they clearly are meant to measure if the exterior of the oven is getting to hot then turn the elements off Iv changed one I need to change the other so I only had 1 element working after about 10 minuets and took an hour and half to get up to 170 degrees but I think once I have the other element working full time it will heat up considerably quicker! 🤦🏼‍♂️

Hi I built one 7’tall x 4’ wide x 2’ deep using a oven it takes 45 minutes to reach 400 same here bottom burner heats up to 580 top burner heats to 290 so I think that’s how they work wish they both got cherry red would heat up a lot faster 🤨thanks I was hoping for a 15 to 20 minute heat time

I’m hoping once I move the lower element heat switch from directly on back of the oven both will be cherry red constantly.. we’ll see 🤣

Where did you get the window?

It was the bottom door of the old oven I took it off and wedged it in between the C stud sections and then filled it with fire putty to create a seal 😁
