Dig another few foot down and line then backfill a few foot back on top with mud and it won't drain and dry up in a few hours. The mud pits in our farm never dry out, but I am in Scotland it rains here 90% of the time.

Your digging technique uses lots of extra energy! Wear boots to stomp the shovel into the ground and then use the leverage from the top of the handle to get a big scoop with the least effort.

I've raised pigs my whole life, they're root and rut the dirt. During the process they'll probably also make it bigger, but they'll flatten it and pack it down effectively making it hold water all the time.

Hydrate the area you want to dig the next pond a day or two before starting. That will help the loosen the packed dirt. Looks like fun. You can easily increase the size of the mud pits by shoveling the banks off. Looks good

Really appreciate the time and effort y’all put into these videos. I think you might benefit from purchasing a set of post hole diggers for your next excavation project. Also if you line the ponds with clay it will act as a natural liner and help keep the water from seeping into the ground. But love to see the effort put in to care for your animals and the videos overall

The OG pigs looked very happy! Once upon a time, young Paul got a tiny little girl piglet named Lulu. We all fell in love. Then Davis, the camera guy at the time, got Bubba a little boy piglet. Soon after, Bubba came to live with Paul and Lulu and the rest is history.❤ Fun memories from early days!

I'll give you a 9.5 for the mud pit for the pigs. I think you're going to need to build a tunnel with water jets in it that they have to walk through before they can get to their little pig house. You don't want them tracking mud into where they sleep. 😉
