Sent you 5 AD, wish it was more, but I'm retired and can no longer rebuild old sail craft, watching folks like you keeps me involved. Best of luck, fair winds and following seas...Even though 72 years of experience makes me grit my teeth at times, I pause and remember all the mistakes I made when I started out. I really screwed up some jobs, but learned and did it right next time...

Yes the time to sand and finish is tedious and slow but you only build it once and after it's done and sailing there is so much maintenance time that you will never have to go back and redo. Those plywood sheets encapsulated in epoxy will be pretty much maintenances free. Your doing it once and then your done.

Ultimately, it's so one can continue to sleep like a baby at night with a clear conscience, knowing it was built to last. Ranks up there with the golden rule, and leave it the way it was found 'rules for respectful living on a small planet'. Much respect.

Yeah good move. Three coats really ensures a bullet proof seal. I built a glass over ply runabout ( on YT ) and the ply takes on a completely different surface feel and structural rigidity once you get three coats on. It feels like a different material. Good job. Keep it up. 👏🏼
@BuildingSYMistress5 жыл бұрын
Definitely agree Robin and thanks very much for your good comments! Your runabout looks fantastic and clearly a high quality build including the fit out! No surprise given that you are a Kiwi! Ha! 😀👌

I probably sound like a kiwi by now having lived here for 26 years but I'm actually an Aussie - Cairns being my home town. But my kiwi mates will appreciate the sentiment - they love boats! My old Dad used to say if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. I had fun building it, and I'd take on a larger project tomorrow - now back to convincing my wife... Look forward to following your progress. Cheers.

@@robinhodgkinson Ha! I can honestly say that I was going to comment about, "Aussie in NZ", but you do have a very mild Kiwi twang with some words and so I didn't want to risk offending! I have a real fondness for NZ and Kiwi's/Maori's, I have travelled there twice, the first time 3 months sailing down the East coast of the Nth Isle and I have worked with so many. Apart from the weather differences (Cairns to Auckland!) I can understand the appeal of living there!

Lol, yeah you never want to call a Kiwi, Australian! Almost as bad as calling a Canadian, American : ) New Zealand's a pretty cool place to live - sounds like you've seen quite a bit. However I do miss Queensland's climate and we're seriously considering a move to Brisbane in the next year or two. Anyway love the boat, I'll be following along... Cheers

Hi Scott, I am pleased that you found Mistress' journeys and yes 😆 well understood re. our "cold" weather! Oh how we acclimatise hey! I am from Adelaide in the South where winters are more akin to your neck of the woods, ie. low grey clouds and long periods of rain, drizzle and strong onshore winds delivered directly from Antarctica, my MAIN reason for leaving 🌞🏝🏖 Enjoy catching up and thanks for your good comments 👍
