This boat is looking really nice. It looks a lot like the Pacific surf dories that they use here on the Oregon coast for launching of the beach into the surf. Very sea worthy boat design. You're doing really well. I like the idea of the continuous stringer and the side bench seats as it gives you really nice access down the middle of the boat. Thank you for the video. Take care and stay safe.

Thank you for showing how uncomplicated rolling a hull over is. I have built 12 boats and have used outside help once... on m y first build. So many other You Tubers act like it is such a complicated process. BTW I really enjoy your series on this build. Keep doing exactly what you are doing and you'll do fine!

Most of those videos you are referring to are ply on frame boats (ex. Jeff Spira's boats) that at the turning stage can weigh up to 1000 pounds for a similar size boat.

Just looking at how handily you and your helper flipped the hull has made me very interested in watching all your videos in this series. Also the way you approach the project by adding the internal supports after completely coating the interior with epoxy is exactly what I am thinking should be done every time I watch a video where the epoxy is applied after the the framing is in place. That seems like a built in future failure of hull integrity as water will eventually seep in to the unprotected area between the untreated framing and plywood where it will be trapped. Anyone who's ever seen the damage to house framing in a vapor lock situation can imagine what comes next.

I know it's not what you do normally, but I would love to see a video about a "disposable" quick boat, like a 2 or 3 person boat for one - or veeeery occasional use - with no epoxy, just ply, screws, glue and paint. :)

@@worldboatskiff8709 a low budget build is always a topic I follow cause its my reality: I'm from Brasil and here epoxy and fiberglass are not cheap at all (well, comparing with EUA nothing is, really) and the most common way to build low budget boats here are with plywood, screws, construction sealant (like Sikaflex) and oil based paint. I want for years to build a small row boat or canoe (like the Quick Canoe from Michael Storer) using this materials but I'm not sure if it can be done in a satisfying way. Anyway, if you ever build one like this, I would be very happy to follow all the steps!

@@luxtempestas there's no need to use large amounts of epoxy and fiberglass. Just a kilogram of two part epoxy mixed with fine sawdust is sufficient for the joints and 10 cm fiberglass strips on the outside joints. Epoxy or polyurethane boat paint is reasonably cheap here in Indonesia. Just make sure water is not standing in your boat or sitting in the water for a long time. My grandfather built wooden boats that lasted twenty to thirty years with just roofing pitch for the seams and porch paint for protection. We just pulled the boat out of the water and flipped it over on some concrete blocks to keep it off the ground. Watch some traditional boat building videos from Indonesia and use your imagination and ingenuity.

Great looking boat and an incredibley detailed series of videos! Really appreciated the tip on non blushing epoxy. How are those composite decking chine logs, and pvc keel/runner holding up? Thats a really intriguing us of material. I watched Mark Vickers LYS series and noticed he had problems later with the runner that he screwed to the bottom. Apparently theres a lot of flex in the bottom of the LYS which caused separation. Do you think the composite materials will flex with and endure that better? Walter Barron's LYS calls for the use of Sikaflex instead of epoxy. Is that because of the ability to withstand flexion? Thanks in advance.

I I think everything is holding up great the PVC runners on the bottom are a softer material so as long as you do not scrape on too many rocks they should hold up good those being epoxied to the bottom create a real strong bond I have installed PVC runners on the bottom of a rowboat 20 years ago and have dragged it up and down the beach hundreds of times.
