Grapple has a lot of uses. I liked your comment “had a shovel in my hands the last two days “. You do look better with a tractor in your hands. Thank you for sharing

It can be difficult to get and keep things level, that old earth is shifty. Good job Tony and Tanja! 👍🔧

Great videos Tony. Great idea to lift those heavy beams with the grapple. I suppose one concern is the beam coming loose when it is vertical and tipping right on top of where you are. Look at the video at "8:19" on the clock. It looks like the 2x4 was cracking. Another idea I suppose for lining the post vertically on the hole, while comfortable sitting on the tractor would be to have a remote camera attached to the beam looking down on the hole. I have a plan to buy some land in Florida next year to develop into a homestead as well.

I felt safe enough moving the beams with the tractor this way and you did see the two by four cracking. We changed it out and moved on. I like the camera idea, but these types of operations will be rare for us. Still, I may get a remote camera. It could be useful in a lot of situations. I am excited for you buying land. There is nothing like developing your on land.

I like the use of the grapple to set the post. I usually lash them to my forks with a jack strap. I don't own a grapple so a person has to figure out how to make do with what you have. Did I see you spray foam around those posts rather than bag concrete and does it work. I've never seen that before. I also use a foundation sealer called wet or dry on my posts before I set them. I dig the hole twice as wide and twice as deep, then fill halfway full of tamped gravel. That allows water to have a place to settle without leaching into the post. Good job though. Thanks Tim!

💥 One more reason to have a grapple. I’m going to find a reason to try this now. *Keep on tractoring!*

You two (is it three now? When does Gizmo get his own channel? Do GoPro do a collar mount?!) You just keep rollin through it. Great cooperation, great work.

That is so funny. We talked about putting a camera on Gizmo the other day. He sits around and watches anyway. He could be the perfect camera crew.

LoL I can kinda tell you are a lot like myself Tony, a shovel doesn't fit my hands very well either bud. Your shop is gonna be awesome.

That's right! No shovel unless it is a must! I appreciate you.

We are spray foaming the roof, and walls if we can afford it. The roof for sure.

Tony, I love how you use the grapple to set the vertical posts! Very clever! 👍

Out of laziness, come innovation. 😇

Well you know in my opinion that I would be using the crane truck to set those post so you could square them easier lift from the top
@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
I think this was much faster. I was able to go get the post, move it around and put it in the hole. Everyone has their own work flow.

Enjoyed this video Tony. That grapple works great on setting those huge posts.

The posts were just too much for Tanja and I to handle by hand. We would have hurt ourselves. Innovations spurred by need.

Tony I like your video I love to work with wood but here in PR we don’t have that kind of lumber

If you want a really straight wall so it doesn’t show bows in the siding and your posts aren’t quite lined up, you can use shims when you put up your girt boards. It will take some extra time, but it will be straight on the outside.
@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. Even as much time as we put in, some of the post have started to twist. It will get interesting when we put siding on.

Remember the old days using hand post hole diggers, to build fences and hitting clay then carrying buckets of water to soak the holes, waiting a couple of days then digging some more? Actually we still do it that way once in a while. 😂
@TonysTractorAdventure2 жыл бұрын
I used the hand post hole diggers on this job. That is why I went up to a 12 inch auger. I kept missing the mark.

Tony that shop is starting to take shape. I’m hoping someday to be able to build something here. Take care, Ben.
