I was lucky to find adhesive cork sheets here in the states at the dollar store. It increased my build time exponentially. I bought tons of it hahaha

I'm trying to use plaster for the finishing on the cork but the premixed wall filler seems way easier to use. Thank you for sharing your technique! Knowing how epic the final result is I can't wait to see part 2 :D

Yeah - I have had the same experience with the wall filler.

This is an incredible build! I've one question though: How do you make those plaster casts? I'd love to see that process as they look great and clearly speed up the time it would take to build something like this!
@msterrainlab Жыл бұрын
Thank you!😊 Short answer is: the same way as I’m doing my “regular” cork walls - only difference is to do it on a bigger piece of wood/pvc so it can be made into a base of the mold. Then I’m using silicon rubber to make imprint. Will try to make a separate video on how precisely I’m doing it - but can’t promise it will be out soon.

Great video, subscribed! One question though, where in the video do you show how the white wall tiles are made? Watched the whole thing a couple of times but not seen it anywhere?
@msterrainlab Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much!😊 I’m happy you like it. Yeah, To be honest I have skipped this part… Those are my own casts - made the same way as my regular walls. I have created silicone molds to speed up the whole process.

Video pacing needs some work. We don't really need to see all the repeated processes but other than that a good start! I watched at I.75 speed (otherwise I probably would've fallen asleep with that music). I learned something new, with the filler over cork technique. Fantastic way to blend those materials. Thank you!
@msterrainlab3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Yeah... I know I could do it a bit different, but the learning curve is just impossible to skip😉 Hope the second part is more accessible!!😊

What are the cut squares in the stone texture across many pieces of your work for? A hidden light switch or cercit connection?
@msterrainlab10 ай бұрын
I think you are referring to window slots. I have made molds of the walls with the window openings (small square is just a piece to cover it if I want to use a whole piece as a solid wall)

This is great! I love the use of cork sheets cut down to size for the stone work instead of using XPS foam. It seems a lot more easier to work with. Do you mind if I ask what thickness is those cork sheets (2mm?) and what brand premixed wall filler are you using please? We have some variety here in Australia and although its classified as "pre mixed wall filler" some are quite flaky and dont really bond well.
@msterrainlab Жыл бұрын
Thanks mate!😊 2mm it is - most of the time. Yeah it’s easier to work with. I don’t remember the brand of wall filler right now - I will be back in my studio on Monday and then I can check it on for you. Not sure if you will be able to find it but (I think) most important feature of the one I’m using is some kind of additional ingredient (which makes it a bit dusty - like there is some kind of grout added or something)

are this home made casts your own creation or are the molds buyable? if they are your creation it whould be interesting how you build the base for it and how you made the molds.
