Zack, I don't know if you realize that you've unknowingly created a sub-genre of Skateboarding (spot making) and Binaural ASMR. Your videos are relaxing as fuck. Listening to someone go through internal dialogue and explain what and why they're doing something a certain way is ultimately very satisfying to watch and listen to. Keep it up.

Dude, so cool you are doing this. I think sometimes discovering these spots and making them ridable is half the fun. Did this when I was in my teens with other skate buddies. Now I do it for new rock climbing areas in San Diego. Thanks for taking us along Zack. Enjoy your spot. You earned it.

You are trying to join two surfaces without using water, and that is the problem, it is essential that the surface where you apply the mortar is very moist, the water eliminates the dust and makes your mortar enter the pores of the surface, you will save on effort, material, money, time, listen to me, moisten the surfaces before applying mortar, if you use a wet sponge for the final finish then you already leave it fine. a hug from Basque territory

Love these DIY vids. I do concrete for work. Adding water to the cracks will help not only clean the existing concrete for a better bond but will also keep the ground in the crack from pulling moisture, which helps it not set too fast and crack. Good stuff man!!

Man, I love your DIY builds. Not only does the skating look great, but just seeing the adventure of the build makes me feel like a kid again looking for wood scraps and places to skate. My son and I skated a DIY spot in Statesville NC a couple of weeks ago and it was a blast. After watching your videos I have a new appreciation of the amount of work it takes. You need to find some homies with a truck!

I’m sure you’re probably already aware but the bondo to hardener ratio is 50:1, the less hardener you use the stronger the end product. Also in heat like California it’s important not to add too much hardener. Less is more, it’ll give you a decent window of work time instead of kicking/flashing early.

Get some kind of little wire fence. Cut a section out so you have 4 inch “legs” sticking out top and bottom. Drill holes spaced like wire fence. Insert wires into holes, concrete over it. Has a rebar effect and holds together and in place.

to make the concrete harden slower and harder, cover the freshly made concrete with the empty cement bags so the sun doesnt make the concrete dry too quickly. I worked as a landscaper and when we did concrete work in the hot summer, we rewetted and covered the fresh concrete with either topsoil or smth else, sun dries it out too quick and then the concrete breaks off too easy also wet the existing concrete before you dump your fresh concrete on it, its binds way better!
