I think it's good that people in SA are not exposed to certain designers b/c it breeds unnecessary consumerism. The brand becomes more important than actual fashion. Just b/c you are able to wear certain name brands does not not mean you are fashionable or have style. Trust and believe I have seen many women in South Africa who have great style compared to the women in other parts of the globe. As a woman I love watching the women in SA walk past me with their style. Ya'll are fly over there!

Always a great conversation. Learnt a lot. PS: Audiobooks aren't reading because you're not exercising the same muscles as you would've when actually reading a hardcopy.

15:56 This is exactly how I feel when people talk about how useless business degrees are. Especially when they say you can only learn how to run a business only by trying; you will run into problems that you could've easily avoided by just reading. Even when people talk about how practice is better than theory; Theory is advanced & tested practice. Someone has already did the practice.

Here in the USA we have places you can go to get “knock-offs” many sell them in the streets. As for reading I’ve always had a library card and use it often. My mother was a reading teacher and has instilled that in me. Not only does reading open your mind it gives you new words to use. Your vocabulary grows and so do you. Here in America there is this enormous push to band books-why? So the masses can stay uneducated and unaware that what “they” are doing has been tried many times before. Ignorance is dangerous. Thank you for continuing to be “in the ring” and do the work. My mom use to say “You can either talk or do, pick one.”

what ive tried to implement in terms of not getting stuck in 1 pov is reading an author's detractors and that gives a different perspective and gives you the opportunity to have a broader view than both

I absolutely agree with Given regarding childhood trauma influencing how far we can go. For example, being told you are never satisfied you always want more. You are too much. You need to tone down a little. Not being affirmed by adults around you. These result in you playing small in hopes of being accepted and validated.

To the question that Ursula raised on why can't Mr Price sell local designers clothing , they used to have a section in their stores called "Project" where they would sell local designers clothing I used love it so much most of my clothes from them were selected from that section. I don't know if they still have that section now. I haven't seen it now that I have moved to CPT (from JHB).

#GRWM On the topic of sensitive men, I find that when discussing whether women appreciate sensitive men the examples usually used are of men who cry all the time or too much, or just any other similar case. However, I think for all cases, men and women, sensitivity is not an issue as long as the human is still functional. And in light of functional sensitivity, I definitely want a partner that is emotional/in touch with their emotions. Life is such a rollercoaster of emotions that I don't see how one can go through life without understanding, processing and having an outlet for their feelings.

Both men and women need to be more honest with themselves. Why i say journaling should be marketed to both genders instead of making it such a woman thing.

Oh! yes retailers, do copy and paste, they sell designs that they copied from big brands, runways and make them at a cheaper cost and sell to the masses. However I think a lot of time when we speak of knockoffs, we do not necessarily mean designs we mean the label. 🤣It's almost like taking a dress of specific celebrity and asking a Taylor to copy that design.. Do we call that a knock off? No! we don't. But if it's a lesser quality with any brand name that for sure we call it a knockoff but the other one is just copying🤣🤣🤣 But when you think about it Knockoff is exactly that copying.. Aah!! we wear knockoffs most of us

I don't get why she has to do her face during the discussion, is it esthetic of the show or is she trying to create an ambiance of comfort. Either way, she needs to stop.

What Ursula was talking about with regard to feminism is called intersectionality. A term that rose from the black feminist movement. It basically acknowledges that people (not just women) are multiple things and they exist in complex social systems. For example, in the early years of the feminism movement, the movement was organised in such a way that black women were unwittingly excluded. The freedom movements were also designed in a way that centered oppressions that affected men over those that affected women. It kind of calls us to recognise that multiple oppressions and systems of domination can exist at the same time towards the same person or a particular group of people. As a result, inviting all of society to kinda walk and chew gum at the same time. The lady who coined the term is a feminist by the name Kimberlé Crenshaw but I believe even bell hooks deals with the concept in her "ain't i a woman?" book. And, YES to reading. May we become them and may we raise them. I love reading today, as an adult, because I saw a lot of adults who read when I was a child. 🤍🤍
