A lesson from this, even if you disagree, do not refuse to listen. Thank you Ursula & team. It's working in the Netherlands.

Eish... This conversation I did not expect... at all. I've always been hard wired against it, but I actually allowed myself to listen to understand and not to respond or challenge and I must say that I felt my mind wire and rewire itself a few times. I'm not sure if my stance has swayed a bit or not (probably not) , but I heard her loud and clear. Appreciated the topic very much and the different perspectives on it. Thank you fam.

I personally do not endorse sex work, but I realize the need of protection for those who engage in such. There is a stigma that comes with the job, but it shouldn't cause us to treat them like they are not human.

Very interesting and necessary conversation. S3x work is definitely among us, and all we have done thus far as a society is shy away from it. Definitely challenged my thinking too 😆 Well done TCC team as always!

I find it so difficult to grasp the protection of sex work... is saying "the sex work is illegal and not the individual" (paraphrased) not the equivalent of saying "the crime is illegal and not the individual"? Should criminals then walk free unless they are caught in the act? Confusing - atleast to me.

Think of it in the context of a drug dealer or armed robber. What is criminlized is the crime and not the individual. If a drug deal is caught selling drugs or caught in possesison of drugs that is the crime. Not the drug dealer himself. Imagine knocking down a door an arresting someone for being a drug deal with no proof that a crime has been committed. Same would apply for an armed robber.

If we make sex work legal what kind of culture are we setting in society, even more so for the future generation. Look at what alcohol is doing in our community on the basis of it being legal, allowing sex work legal today will open the flood gets to many other things we shouldn't be glorifying quickly become a lifestyle.

The issue here, like drugs, is even if we don't legalize it, as long as there's a market or demand for it, it will continue. Sex work unlike drugs, one can argue that these women don't bother anyone by stealing etc. But yah, it's a tough one, no parent, sibling or family member would be happy for their child to be a sex worker. It's sad that those who work here are forced by their situation.

@NkosinathiMasango012 Some made the choice to be a sex worker however the are those that are forced. I think if the law punished participants by arresting them , rehabilitating, educating and empowering them to do something with their life is far more helpful than legalization of sex work.

@sembachitibwi5211 Yah I hear you. So what about all the men that demand these services, I believe they're equally wrong then because without them, there's no business, meaning even the criminals that human traffic some of these ladies, won't have a market
@NkosinathiMasango0125 күн бұрын
What I feel a lot of people in society miss is that they choose to focus only on the ladies selling sex. There are official establishments running as brothels, packed with men who have girlfriends and wives, and you hear about the excitement men have when they visit these places. As long as these men demand this service, it will never end. Just like drugs, you can blame the drug dealer as much as you want, but as long as his stock flies off the shelves, he will not stop selling. Also sex work is diverse, there are many ladies who pose as slay queens who we all know sell sex to the rich and elite. Because their clientele is rich and elite, they can afford to do the sex trade at fancy hotels etc. I've seen podcasts where sex workers were interviewed and they tell you that their clientele are mostly working and successful men with wives. This is a transaction between two people, yet we only choose to focus on the one party.
