Nev, this is brilliant! As a intermediate rider it’s really good to look at this to not forget any basics!

Nev this is such an awesome series! My Wife and I are new snowboarders currently in Hakuba, Japan and we eagerly await the uploads every morning to see Rio's progress. We try to practice what you teach on our daily runs! Keep it up, we feel more and more motivated to perfect our S Turns after each video.

If the girl is checking comments here: you are doing an amazing job! I just feel like if you would put more weight on your front foot it will be much easier for you. Keep up the good work!

Learned to ride last season with the help of your videos. Recently saw a video of my riding and could do with a refresher of the basics. Great timing!

I unknowingly learned this way about 15 years ago having been thrown on the mountain with a friend and nobody to show me how to ride other than skateboard skills. i teach this skill after the falling leaf to get people "up to speed" and then introduce the S turns.

Since it will so easily become a counter-rotation movement and I was struggling with teaching beginners/intermediate this. Do you have any suggestions for avoiding the counter-rotations? My wife had trouble with cat tracks and I couldn’t make up my mind to teach her this technique 😢

That is a great question to ask Nev. He could give you a far better answer than I could. He does a live session every week on ADDICTION+ and can discuss this directly with you. We offer a 30 day free trial and therefore, feel free to sign up, join the session, and get the answers from Nev. You won't be charged anything until after the first 30 days and you can cancel at any time. www.addictionplus.tv/

I'm just learning to snowboard, toe edge is no problem but heel egde is impossible for me without falling, I can't seem to face downhill. Is it just practice or can something be wrong? Ps. Awesome learning videos !

Watching his other videos is search them it sounds like your not keeping your hips over your board but feet straight too far out in front. If you remain stacked more over it you'll achieve the stop without falling on your back side. He actually comments about this very briefly at 4:28 mark.
@krissp87124 ай бұрын
Yeah I had a similar problem, I agree with Clint it's about the stance! Trying to get the body flexible, and line the weight all up nicely. It does take some practice on tiny gentle slopes before I learnt how to keep the balance gently. Then on gradually slightly steeper areas, and then a proper green slope where I was getting to the critical point/angle and fully slowing myself.

If you watch the demo on ground at 0:54 you'll see the difference with how Nev moves both feet and how Rio mostly pivots on her back foot. Is that important??
@SnowboardAddiction10 ай бұрын
Yes!!! Copy what Nev is doing as much as you can. Rio is very very new so her form is not ideal haha

Why do you cut out all the clips of her falling. Why does every body always cut out all the clips of catching ended in a tie side and slamming on your butt. Or leaning back and sliding out. All of that. It just makes it look like oh I could do that without pain. Or needing to brace myself. Or seeing how falls happen to avoid the body position. Or seeing how to position your body for the fall and watching someone else fail! It's just so stupid to only show the success.
@SnowboardAddiction6 ай бұрын
I totally get your frustration! Showing only the successes can give a misleading impression. Including the falls and failures is essential for a realistic view and learning process. It's all part of the journey! 🙂
