Beautiful, the slate roof is amazing. Question though: with all the material you anyway had to buy, would some higher-densitiy, flame-retardant eco insulation really have made such a difference? Keeping fingers crossed that you don't get a family of mice moving into your wall cavities...

Литва? :) Двойной каркас, стойки Ларсена. Сено вместо опилок или минваты - это неплохо. Главное защитить от мышей и огня.

I have a dream to build a house on footage 9x15m (approx 120m’2) using straw bale technology. Movie gives impression that the design is well developed. Do you have some suggestions - where it is valuable to get the knowledge / project about such kind of house?

A detailed design of this particular cabin along with other construction details of straw bale building using double stud wall framing technique and panelized solutions will be part of an upcoming book that currently is in a printing house and will be released within few weeks. Straw bales don't burn and with clay plaster you get a full F90. Do the research!😝

I like the compression methods shown. If you have not COMPLETELY sealed the inside with a vapor proofing method,moisure WILL get into the walls,and may not escape. I would recommend large overhangs, and using a dehumidifier inside to keep moisture levels low..... Seems you did not make efforts to provide a way to let moisture escape on the outside walls (no air space between straw and plywood )........and,was there a way for moisture to escape from the roof bales? Looks good,but very pricey,and possibly destined to fail,without continual dehumidification..... Best wishes,let us know if you handled the moisture problem in a way that you did not show.

Currently, I'm working on my book about straw bale and straw panel construction. The book is in its final stage of editing and will be available on Amazon and other major book retailers. I've included blueprints for building this particular cabin in book's content. If you're interested I can give you a notice once the book is out.

Сразу видно- европа строит! Все станки купили, каждой доске отдельная приблуда. В России молоток, топор лопата лом. ( ну, и.... мать) 😅 А идея хорошая. Жаль у нас не подойдет. Удачи!

I don't believe traditional stucco is used from builds I've seen as I was told stucco doesn't breath.

What is expensive, compared to what? What is cheap? What's wrong with rock wool is its expense. Straw is cheap, because it is a waste product of grain farming. If not used for insulation, it would be burned or left in the open to rot. Well, I guess it is used for animal bedding, which is then composted.

The headline is clickbait, this is not a straw bale build. That would require mud, sand, water and straw. Then a stucco type outer shell. Don't even need framing. Also using dry straw as insulation seems like a bad idea to me. After sometime that straw will breakdown and turn to dirt which will mean you no longer have insulation.

It turns to dirt only if it gets wet and supports bacterial action.

It's called a straw bale cabin, because the cabin uses straw bales. The inner and outer sheathing doesn't have to be stucco or cob, although it usually is used.
