Why do a lot of people use extra edge lops for creases and not the crease tool?

The crease tool is used to get a completely hard edge, which is great to see a character line. People usually use edge loops to create a radius along a character line so they can soften the look of the line. Early on, the crease tool is great so you only have to manipulate the points along the creased edge. When you add loops to get that softer line you now have to manipulate more points when adjusting a character line.

The other reason is habit.. 20 years of doing it this way it becomes habit. :)
