Does the strutting beam need a minimum of 100 mm vertical bearing on the top plate from a engineering point of view cheers

Hi Mate, there is nothing in the Australian Timber Framing code about veritcal bearing for Strutting Beams however our standard top plate is only 90mm so we would never get the 100mm bearing. I would say that it would have to be the full width of the Top Plate whatever width that is.
