@OurPastAu3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Paul. I've had 90% of my work cancelled, so have been spending quite a bit of time working on the house. Are you guys back in lockdown too?

Hi. Really enjoying the reno. I live up the valley in Singleton. Wondering where the general area of the house is.
@OurPastAu3 жыл бұрын
A bit closer to the coast than Singleton

Any reason you didn't use the old floorboards in the house?
@OurPastAu2 жыл бұрын
Great question, there just weren’t enough useable boards to cover the area needed. I would have been 40 square meters short. The type of timber is increasingly difficult to come by - so would be near impossible to match them up. Instead, I have gone with a floating floor that very closely resembles the original flooring. The boards that were removed will be used as decking around the house 🙂

Going nicely Jacob. By sealing as many gaps as possible between floors & Skirting boards and window/door frames & walls will make a huge difference into drafts in the house. Not only will this minimise dust & insect intrusion, but it will save you big $$ in regards to heating & cooling costs/losses. Insulating the underside of the floors can also save you up to 25 % of heating/cooling costs, by either using foam panels between the joists and/or even simply foil ( Sarking ? ) roof/wall insulation secured to the underside of the joists from wall to wall as snugly as possible to close up air gaps.

Thanks for the info Tim! I have been through quite a few tubes of 'no more gaps' and expansion foam. It can be difficult matching the old with the new. I was considering under floor insulation. When I have the floors sanded I was going to get the guy to fill any gaps (theres quite a few, seeing as it's not tongue and groove). And after looking in the ceiling I found that only 50% had batts. I have since fixed this and noticed a considerable difference. Lots of small things here and there, but you're right, it sure does make a difference. Thanks again!
