One little trick I picked up few yrs ago with detecting and looking for bottles was how good droughts can be for looking for treasures ❤few yrs back say 5 near it was bad out west nsw , I could see so far into the scrub I saw so many signs of life that took me back to find good bottles no one ever found due to grass 🎉

Are you renovating it to look like the 1950’s or renovation it from the 1950’s. anyways you’re doing a great job on it.
@OurPastAuАй бұрын
Was built in the 50s, so trying to incorporate some mid century style into the renovation 🙂
@nmpwolf9679Ай бұрын
For something that's 50 years younger than mine that's in rough shape
@OurPastAuАй бұрын
It sure is. I’d say it’s a combination of it being built at the time as ‘investor grade’ and having little upkeep since. The other place I renovated, c1890, was certainly built to last - more so than this one. Is your place brick or timber stud?

Yes trying to keep it pretty 1950s/MCM style. Lucky this style is very ‘in’ at the moment, so easy to find materials! 🙂

How about a lake or a beach in the national park
@OurPastAuАй бұрын
Great question, in some cases the extent of the National Park may only reach the high tide mark, so below this may be allowed. It would be best to check with your local NPWS office to confirm this if you had a specific location in mind.
@DragonfruitTreasuresАй бұрын
@OurPastAu yeah i call them up they just said its a no in general. But i feel like the water side of it is different you know what i mean. Or a lake that runs through it. Its just a waste not being detected 😂 but have to follow rules

May I ask what the VJ product is called that you’ve used here? 😊
@OurPastAuАй бұрын
Hi Elly, it’s a product from James Hardie. If you search ‘Hardie Groove VJ panel’ it should show up. About $160/sheet. A little more expensive than the EasyCraft MDF alternative, but I wanted to make sure it would withstand the high moisture aspect of a bathroom so I decided on the Hardie FC product. This can also be used as cladding on the exterior of a home. FC sheets can be difficult to cut, so I put the cut edge at the top, where the chair rail will run. Used liquid nails to adhere it to the wall with countersunk FC sheet screws Then primed it with a good quality undercoat. Hope this helps!

Can l please ask where you sourced the exterior custom moldings from?
@OurPastAu2 ай бұрын
I had them cut by a local timber mill. I took in an original piece which they used as a guide to then cut the timber of my choice (exterior grade pine). I found the mill through a small franchise hardware store, that sources from them. From memory it worked out at about $10/m for the internal lengths, slightly more for external. There was a setup fee of $80ish (to match the knives needed to create the profile), so best to order all at once. Companies such as Intrim offer similar products, but their exterior range was limited, also cost 3x as much. Prices would have gone up, as this was 2021 that I ordered them. Hope this helps!

What about cemeteries? Just kidding LOL. Yeah it sucks, even here in the U.S where there are millions of detectorist, more and more places are being off limits. A few bad apples ruin it for everyone. A park I have hunted for 100s of years (ok 20) I got kicked off by a Karen park official who said the city has decided no digging in the parks. I asked her why dogs can dig in the park and poop with no consequences but we cannot. No response other than leave or face the consequences.
