The best and most accessible series teaching the fretboard. I understand how to build major, minor, and pentatonic scales, but struggled for years to build up the patterns into muscle mentor, until finding this series.

Woo! It’s out! I’ve been using your stuff since late last year. I bought your poster and ebook, both useful. What I liked the most is that after learning the system, it became super easy for me to learn to solo to any song by ear. It takes me about 10 seconds to figure out the scale and then I can just jam. Really fun because now I can jam with friends without even knowing the key. They play a couple chords and then I know all the notes I can play on the neck!

Thank you for your video series. I have been "practicing" guitar since I was a child. Now I can play my music from my imagination on the guitar - and it's very easy. my solo on every backing track is now a piece of cake. I love it 😍

Hey, awesome videos ! I have a suggestion. Whilst trying to use this chaining method I realized that thinking about the number of notes that I played kinda threw me off. I couldn't really dive deep into my modes because I like to think of the root note of the mode as the 1st note, so all the notes that came after are 2nd, 3rd and so on. So I realized that to understand what note we are on, and therefore the new pattern, we must identify the note that we are on, as an example the 4th of the 3rd pattern, and add the missing notes, if I started on the 3rd pattern that means that I have "jumped" two notes. Therefore I add 2 to 4 and there I have my note value and new pattern, 6. The equation would be : (pattern-1)+note value in relation to the mode. Hope this is useful, looking forward for part 5 :)

So so thankful to see that there’s another video out. I came across your series last week and my playing has taken on a complete new feel and understanding thanks to understanding the rules you’ve laid out. It’s at the point now where I’ve ventured into pentatonic scales as well. Is there a way to use what you’ve taught already to adjust to those stacking on top of each other and build logically? Would appreciate a response so much 🙏🏾 so far I know that I can do position 1 and 5 on top of each other.

There is. I’ll give a quick hint. A pentatonic scale is just a diatonic 7-note scale, with 2 notes removed.

@Michael Pillitiere these videos have been tremendously helpful. One area that continues to confuse me is in relation to exotic scales. When I look at the hungarian minor, I don't see how it follows from the previous blocks, at least not in a similar sequence.
@MichaelPillitiere
@MichaelPillitiere 6 ай бұрын
One of the more infuriating aspects to learning music theory is that some aspects of it follow a neat, logical, and understandable sequence. Other aspects are a mess of modifications and alterations thrown in because someone in the past liked the way they sounded. Which is great for creating new and interesting sounds, but bad for trying retro fit them into a system of logic. Each altered scale will have its own modifications that may, or may not play well with something like this.
