Those arguing that money needs to be spent on poor rather than this stadium, kindly understand: poor people will continue to remain poor until THEY work hard and try to become richer, no matter how much government spends on them . And FYI, the government in the country where this stadium is located has spent money on lifting the poor out of poverty like none other in this world. The stadium is built out of the money left in the government exchequer along with money invested by private entities. So yes, that nullifies your arguments about spending on the poor instead of building this stadium. And also FYI, poverty is often not due to lack of opportunities , it is also refusal to come out of poverty. Many poor people in India are too lazy to lift themselves out of poverty , how much ever you try and pull them out. They like to remain poor and live off government hand me downs. What to do in case of such people ? Like they say, you can take the donkey to drink water , you can't make him drink it.

Actually the reason why ground looked bigger is the stadium itself was smaller... Since now the stands are more horizontally big , from birds eye it makes the ground look small but in reality it's perfectly normal international sized ground

with all due respect, u can always build a new stadium bigger than the existing one but u don't have the legacy and crowds of Eden Gardens(Kolkata) or Wankhede(Mumbai) stadiums anywhere else in india. Among all the stadiums in India, these 2 and Salt Lake Stadium(Kolkata) are well maintained through out the year.
