My first Tamiya chassis was a TA02. Castrol Celica.

Those are such great chassis/builds. i did a ton of them in the mid 90's. For as old as the chassis is, its still a good handler (for what it is). Your spot on when you said they are smooth. Awesome Job, Awesome Build!!!!!

Funny enough I ran out of bearings building mine as well Gav , same as you, the ones for the front steering knuckles/hubs. Nice build ;)

Still my favourite chassis on my Toyota Celica GT4 although it is the TA 01. Great memories from Christmas 1991. Great stuff Gavin!

Hopefully they’ll re-re the Alfa Romeo 155 ti one day since I had the Larini/Nannini version in the early 90s and regret ever letting it go. I recently over compensated and bought the Lancia 037 and the Calibra for my own hobby space to display and not open anytime soon. Keep up the amazing Tamiya content and I’ll eagerly follow! 👍🏼🏁

Excellent video as always dude, looks like a nice easy build. I know a lot of people hate building ball diffs, but weirdly enough I don't, I also quite like building the shocks too. God I'm a weirdo ;)

I remeber building these when they first came out and the TA01. I still have my TA03F Opel. I love the Opel body. I hear ya on the supplies, bearings, receivers, servos etc.. They go fast. I try to have all that stuff before I build,

Great video! Personally I'd not grease the gears as debris will stick on them during disassembly. If they're dry, cleaning the gears will be much easier :D

Hi 😀 must first say that your new studio is a success! 👍 The design of the bathtub chassis and steering hubs is what distinguishes TA01 from TA02. TA 01 has the red ones (like Top force and other off road buggies) TA02 got revised steering hubs (blue) to make room for longer suspension arms for a better suspension geometry.

Are there certain bearing sizes commonly used in Tamiya kits?
@schuttrostig57292 жыл бұрын
Phantastic job you did building, i always need 5 trys to get the fumbly parts together like ball diff, washers in upper suspension arms, e clips and the u-wire for the lower front arms. I think there are at least 3 diffrent speed gear numbers by tamiya that all have the same speed gear in, so if you cant get one specific number the others are good as well. My car has problems with the rear ball diff, it cant take the load of a sports-tuned motor. Not sure if it can when build diffrent or if its just not up to stronger motors, how are others experiences there?
@RangerPate3 жыл бұрын
Why only one spacer (v11) on shock shaft? -manual shows 2 (v11 and v3) and they are spot on attleast on my calibra build.
@brettblackshaw65829 ай бұрын
Do you have a link to the servo you used for this build? Im starting the exact same one.

In the diff should replace the pessure bearing to the ta03 once 1150 is the number so i think
@h-jg77303 жыл бұрын
The Chassis is to 80% a Manta Ray Chassis. Only diffrence is the rear ball diff, shorter arms, dampers and lower damper mounts.
@rcdrive25633 жыл бұрын

did that have the angled rear arms, drive shafts angled back. The other version TA01 had the drive shafts straight.

Why a front differential is with gears and back one is ball diff?
@RCKickschannel3 жыл бұрын
I know, you would think the rear would have the gear diff. If you are racing I’m told it’s best to run two gear diffs.
@onlinehelper3743 жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel I'm not racer, I only love to watch that kind of videos.Are ball diff slip?
Ah they got rid of that alloy cog in the rear gearbox ?

When I started buying Tamiya touring-car chassis, ball differentials were standard and that’s what I prefer despite potential loosening. The price of optional ball differentials for later chassis makes me gag.

Hi! Do you buy ball bearings in bulk? Is this chassis bigger than the TT02? And how do they compare, please? Loving your new channel btw
