For me, detailing season has begun! We are moving out of the Yarn building into my new location, but my new studio area is going to take a lot of time and money to get built. That means I'm losing my detailing space for quite some time. I took this opportunity to go through our entire detailing collection to make sure I have a complete set ready at my house. I bring you along for my process.

Thanks for sharing this with us and giving us a look at your process. I totally understand that your process is mainly suited and geared towards personal/leisure use of garage. Any possibility to do a collaboration video with a professional detailer of your choice so they can share what their process looks like? Might be interesting to see the differences for personal/professional garages.

Hey Matt, have you ever thought about offering an option to get the items you get in the next option if you wanted to upgrade? What I mean is let's say I bought the beginning package but now want to move up to the master, can I buy only the things that are not in the beginning package?

just my opinion, just because I like the rustic look just as much as modern. Wood grain flooring be cool for wash bay. The little bit of experimenting with Dr. Beasley's NSPs, seems like a viable option for polishing. I am hoping Rupes surprises me with an iBrid rotary at the next SEMA event.

Apparently RUPES made some tweaks to the structure and internals of the cordless 3" polisher for 2024. Still not going to be as smooth/quiet as the Mirka, but should be a noticeable improvement. I have the Flex which is filling my cordless 3" needs for now, but I'm going to see if Mirka finds a way to implement a trigger lock before deciding between it and the RUPES.

Since you will be doing some polishing in the garage and potentially without a compressor, have you considered using a Lake Country pad washer? I recently added one and it greatly sped up and improved my polishing process. I was able to compound/polish my entire X5 with 1-2 pads of each type/size and got more consistent results because the pads were always clean and cool. I can't imagine polishing a car now without one.

@@timkinley1779 of course, but I don't think he's indicated yet what he plans to do. I have a compressor too (and have blown out pads for many vehicles at this point) but after making the transition to a pad washer I'll never blow out a pad again.

Resist the urge buy/try out products you aren't familiar with. Let Matt do the heavy lifting. I see a bunch of goofy, off-the-shelf, dusty, auto parts products in people's garages and see a trash can in the corner, I usually suggest a marriage between the two. Some people like cabinets full of whatever. I like seeing more shelf.

i agree sio2 definitely ruins the water absorption of towels over time honestly the polish and compound department is pretty hard to list as many people experience different brands for so many various purposes. I don't think it would be worth your time for that department too. Some cars right out the spray booth, 200k miles, or 0 miles all have different experiences and steps. depending on humidity and temp many products can/can not be used other than that, the rest look fantastic as you include the machines/tools best in your garage for the best quality of life correction process

Would be interested to hear if you see value in adding some intelligence to the website that makes it easier for users to track their progression/inventory. It would be cool to have products and packages know how they relate to one another. You could then overlay that with a users purchase history to suggest missing products/upgrades, keep personal inventory, and allow for quick restocking when you finish that gallon or a towel gets to end of life.

In retail, 30% net profit margin is high. Companies with a profit margin of 20% generally show strong financial health. Again, for retail, not professional services where margins would be north of 50%. I'd say get those down to make the overall costs more affordable to a larger customer base, especially during current times with interest rates at an all time high with no signs of coming down soon with inflation still in the high 3's.
