Building The Parking Lot

Building the parking lot. Lonnie started hauling the 3" rock today and we got all that down and tracked in. I couldn't get a roller until next week so when we start the 1" rock we will have the roller to compact it all in. I think in total it took 15 loads of rock 8 of the 3" and 7 of the 1" Now we do have to put a concrete approach in to the parking lot so we will start that at a later date and finish the rock up around to it. It looked to me like three good old boys who had laid down a load of rock or two. You’ve got that roughing and finishing down to a habit! Your dad handled that roller like a man on a mission... even though it wasn’t a Hamm! And Lonnie... was this his KZbin day view? I don’t think you’ve ever shown him out of the truck before. Have you? He certainly makes that spreading look easy. Partial rows, forward or back... he’s a pro. I couldn’t see any tire tracks from the loads he brought before rolling it. That lot is gonna pack like concrete. Looks nice... I’m taking my grandkids fishing in the morning... O’ the sacrifices you have to make to be a PawPaw!

I rocked a trucking company parking lot with inch and half clean like 25 loads spread it out took tractor down and graded by the dock short dock they never had to rock lot again exept where the e Semi truck turn with doubles on got forty jobs from employees and onlookers spreading is my specialty 27:55

Nice job, and for a second when the roller hit the camera, I had to check and make sure I wasn't watching Captain Kleeman or Dirt Perfect. Wish I could convince truck drivers around here to tailgate spread, it's a one-lane road and a dead end, so it is blocked with a big pile of rock until it's spread, and I'm not as fast or smooth as you are.

What do you do with the lazer? You check for depth or linear straight angles.

Yeah it just checks the heights of each point to make sure your on grade

how deep did you dig? how thick is each layer of rock?

I think I cut it down 16”-18” and each was around 8” if I remember right.

Brandon, I was saying stop, stop ssttooopppp!!!! But bam!! “Nailed it!” Hahaha,,, sh*t happens! You don’t mess around when you are putting down rock and gravel!! Well done! Heck that soil(?) was mostly rock to begin with. I finally found a location to live in thats about as Rocky in your area, but it’s about 1100 feet up the side of a mountain!! Hahaha. It’s all natural, no mowing, nothing! I scored!! Primary reason we bought a place that far south in the Province. This video went together very well! Nice having Lonnie to count on and you and your dad work together well. My dad and I had to be on opposite sides of the ranch. That way it was safe when we came into the shop to shut down for the day!! Hahaha. Oil and water!! Looking great! I think some of those landscaping rocks up there are really cool!! Hope you get to use them in the landscaping. This is a simple, but fun project!
