That was a good job tailgating. I had a guy that could tailgate gravel in his sleep work for me last October, I asked him how he got so good and he played it off. He loves his job and really knows his business. One thing I know for sure, always find the center of your road and put out little flags where you want your gravel tailgated. It’s hard to eyeball the center of the road while tailgating gravel long distances.

For $100 or less you can get 1or 2 rear view cameras with dash monitor. I believe mounting a camera on the top front of the dump body you could see where the rock is as well as how the rock is spreading, speeding up the learning process with visual feedback. Just a thought I had. I use backup cameras to make hooking up trailer a one shot job. What do you think?

Charles Shanafelt it’s not a bad idea but I don’t feel like messing with all that. I’d rather just learn without cameras. I figured out hooking up the trailer without cameras just have to line up the dump body with the side of the trailer. I’ll get the tailgating. Appreciate the comment

When I run out (as we call it in Australia) I start with the host just about the second stage and leave it there start moving let the gate go wait till about 1/3 of the load is out and than start putting the hoist up all the way

Mount a back up camera near the brake lights so you can better see where you are backing and turn it on when you are tailgating might help . They are pretty cheap now . Is there a grader attachment in your future? One would fit on the front of your trailer nicely. Money vs time saved ?

Great job sir. I usually start off with bed about half way up then after about 150 ft I start to let it go up all the way. But of course it depends on rate of flow. Finer aggregates will wait little longer. Driveway turned out great though sir

You’ll get it! Set your chains a little tighter. I put about 3 loose fingers with 57s between chains and bed to check slack. Listen to what’s going on. I raise the bed til I hear it rolling and get it up against the tailgate. Get moving slowly in low gear and then trip the gate raising the bed slightly and keep easing it up. Dammit watch them power lines!

I notice in all your videos you use a toothed bucket. All I own is a flat bucket with a cutting edge and it works great for grading. I've been considering a toothed bucket for sod and hard pan, just wondering if you thought it were a worthy investment and if it would get used enough to justify the cost.

Zachary Cullen all I have ever used is a tooth bucket. It’s so much easier on the machine. Your able to do finish work and if you need to cut a little bit it’s no problem. I think it would be worth it but I’m not sure of your soil type. We have rocks so it’s a must

You can Google rock calculator and put in the length width and depth to figure the rock. I use base rock mostly for the driveways

You did a nice job on the driveway, Brandon! I think you sort of make too many excuses for some things you do and some for things you say you meant to do or will do or whatever. However, since we love you, I figured why you do that (partly). KZbin and us is a main reason. I mean, think about it, you are alone (99%) and don't want 'dead' air, so you talk to take up the space. (Hope that makes some sense.) Tailgating: I think you've made yourself overly conscious of the act. Secondly is, I've watched every video you've made in the little TONKA truck (your wife's ride). Anyway, with all the driving you did and maneuvers in that thing your mind misses it. So you come to the new big boy truck and expect to do things you never did with the other one. Know what? Ok, first, you're getting closer on the tailgating stuff. Second, the Mrs. Elite segment needs to be in every video. When she and her friend were commenting during their critique I almost spit sweet tea into the living room floor. I was kinda disappointed that we didn't get a "that's what she said" joke. I suspected that was the problem. Had the same thing happen to one of my machines years ago.

That crusher run is always a good default material if you are unsure about what to buy, you might have to buy a load or two extra, but it works great for a surface material.
