Such a nice build. Always love watching these bike build videos and learning the unique things you do to your bikes.
I have been riding the crap out of my izzo "uncaged 7" in reality it's all those parts on a black frame. The capability of that bike at 120 / 120 is unreal. Taken it to shuttle zones, it's efficient with long pedals and gravel transfers. I didn't think I'd need it but it's got a dual lockout and I love that on gravel road climbs.
@parker6711Ай бұрын
Yo! I have the first edition Izzo Pro Race and I'm considering putting Sid suspension on it or buying a new ASR. I live in North Texas and 90% of riding is pedaling, always... We have punchy ups and downs but tons of undulating terrain with not much elevation gain. We do have our fair share of tech but its all at lower speeds or climbing. Do you think the Sid setup would be worth doing? Edit: lol I just realized, we've already chatted on the FB izzo form!
@gabrielrhoads4588Ай бұрын
I did this with an evil following a couple years ago. Sid ultimate 35 mm 120, around 25 pounds. Same exact drivetrain except for older race face next sl. Abso black chainring. Mag mtsl with galfers. It was great on alpine/ hiking trails. But flow trails. Nope. Forks below pikes are waay too flexy for shredding imo. But for an all day/adventure mountain bike this is perfect. Most people around here are getting e-bikes for all day bikes. I applaud you, sir!!!!

I'm coming from the other direction on travel (Gen2 Supercaliber) and also recently built a 120/115 bike (Fezzari Signal Peak SL) and it's so confidence inspiring on the tech and downhills while still letting me charge up hill anytime I want to.

I think 11 speed needs a resurgence. It is good stuff. I loved my advent x, but 1 more gear would have been just about all the upgrade I needed. A local shredder went 11 speed gx with no regrets. 11 speed is a good sweet spot.

Love the bike! I ride a SB100 now with a VERY (XX1 mechanical, no dropper, carbon wheels, Fox 34 SC Factory, Level Ultimate, etc.) similar build and use it as my primary race bike for XC and longer endurance type races like Breck Epic. Wondering how the two compare assuming you have some saddle time on the SB100. Thanks!
@WorldwideCycleryАй бұрын
Nice! Sb100 is a rad bike. The ASR definitely takes some elements of that but is lighter, faster and just more refined in terms of how the bike handles and feels for its weight and travel. Well worth doing a demo on an ASR if you can so you can see what I mean.

2 questions: how would you conpare this with fe a transition spur? (seems more trail-y but not necessarily worse?). then, what about galfer pads on other rotors, did the rotors make the most diff? their pads are great sram replacement but on hs2 rotors they dont seem better for all brakes, which might be a rotor thing maybe?

@liamwoods5353Ай бұрын
while many new xc bikes have a "single pivot flex stay" suspension design, the overall kinematics and where the "flex" in the stay comes are much different. The ASR is very open and active off the top and has a linear suspension feel. So you get lots of small bump traction especially when going downhill and also you use all the travel making the most of the 115mm out back. I think it performs better dh than any other single pivot flex stay bike out right now.

I've been looking for a short travel full sus bike (currently have a Rail 29, Rail 27.5 and a beater 140mm hardtail), and really have been back and forth between the Ranger and SB120. Very good question. This bike is lighter and faster but also flexier and not quite as stable in the chunky or really steep stuff. So although the travel is similar, the ASR handles more like a fast featherweight XC bike and the Ranger more like a trail bike that is more capable.
