The Vittoria combo feels faster for sure. Also lighter weight on the scale. They do get pinged around or deflect off the rocks or bits of terrain more than the recon but I think in time I’ll learn to trust them. I’m excited to try them! Also, I’ve only had three rides on them so far so time will tell

Just depends on what your purpose of riding is. If you’re not racing, but still want a fast rolling and confidence inspiring cross country tire. It’s hard to pass up the recon race. I would probably take that over the Vittoria combo that I have on this lightweight ASR, just because they hold a line slightly better, and have more volume. That said, after three rides I’m pretty happy with the Vittoria combo! In short, if you’re not racing, I’d go with the Maxis recon race 🤙 and even if you are racing, that was the tire I used on my last race and finished 7th💪😆

@mtbyumyum
@mtbyumyum 8 ай бұрын
I've seen enough comment like this and said nothing but I'll inform you... we don't weigh bikes without pedal or bottle cages, computers or other mounts in an effort to get the weight lower... bikes are weighed in this manner because those items are subjective. My pedals might weigh 11 oz, others maybe 9 oz and someone else maybe a pound... it creates unmeasurable nuance in the accounting of the weight... hope this makes sense? Also, I know people who weigh bikes without sealant in the tires... for that I would agree with your sentiment, that is ridiculous... all tubeless tires need 2 oz of sealant.
@alexrandall9966

You've already modded the stock bike anyhow. Plus all you need to do is put your own pedals on every time. The comparison remains the same and then you actually have a useful figure rather than an irrelevancy.

Ok, being that I HATE how Yetis ride. How is it compared to the Pivot Mark 4 SL and Ibis Exie bikes you have in terms of having to front load the wheels to where its a lot of fricken work to keep it from washing out, while the Pivot & Ibis bikes are more neutral riding position. Also, the Yeti SB100 & 115 had that "hidden" flexing problem, does this have it? I say "hidden" because none of the presenters hyping those as the greatest things slice bread told us about the rear triangle flexing like crazy & was a problem? I'm a Pivot & Santa Cruz guy, and to a certain point Ibis so trying to decide which way to go with an XC but capable bike.

I'd say if you're already not a "Yeti" fan, go with the Ibis Exie or Pivot M4 SL. You won't be disappointed! That said, this is nothing like the current Yeti lineup of bikes... this is a single pivot bike... it is without the Switch Infinity link you'll see on all other current Yeti's including the SB100 and 115 you mentioned.

So you got rid of the all the wireless magic…..Are you serious? I’ve got 3000 + miles on my eBike and the wireless stuff is flawless like having brand new cables all the time…the wireless dropper works like it reads your mind….but keep on riding history instead of the future…

Haha yeah, I figured a lot of people would probably not like that decision. In any case, I have XO transmission on my e-bike as well. On a light bike like this, I prefer the cable.

Why too bad? It's a completely different animal... this is an xc race bike. The Element is much more a short travel trail bike...

Element>epic>asr in terms of progressiv geometry. Like: element is a trail bike, epic a DC, asr a XC bike, and of course depending on the build you can make any of them more trail or more xc oriented. Am I right, mtb yumyum? ;-)

@@mtbyumyum I like the weigh just not the geometry. How's downcountry slower than xc if the eight the same really. You just have a funner more versatile bike. Great if your a non racer anyhow.
@mtbyumyum
@mtbyumyum 7 ай бұрын
I'm unsure about the downcountry thing... but the Element has a very long wheelbase and just rides and feels like a trail bike... the ASR feels and rides like a xc bike, regardless of geometry. For example, the Cannondale Scalpel SE has very xc geometry but it just rides more like a short travel trail bike... not as nervous or twitchy as an xc bike... like the ASR for example.
