good thing your son was there to coach you. :) most adults are on there own.

Nice father and son project. Building memories and a skills for the future. I still remember building a go cart with my dad 60 years ago. It gave me a lot of confidence to build things.

Thanks, Bob! Looking forward to seeing what you do as well. We may be criss-crossing on the digital fabrication tools; I would love to get a CNC machine. I've definitely been checking out your Shapeoko videos!

I Like To Make Stuff Bill's videos are amazing, just a shame so few know about them yet; perhaps a BrainPick? .. it'd help Bill reach a wider audience, and would be really interesting getting perspective from someone relatively new to making professional videos. Discussions around Electronics / Arduino / 3D Printers / CNC would be great too! :)

Gareth Crispin that is really kind of you to say! I am still in the process of building my channel and my projects, but getting to the level of what I Like To Make Stuff and others are doing is certainly a goal! Thanks for the support and enthusiasm!

Looks like a nice entry level 3D printer and a fun father-son project... I haven't done much research myself, what led you to choose the Printrbot specifically?

I build this but i don't know how to set the machine setting in cura?

For the low end materials and the fact that you had to completely build this printer, $350 seems really high.

+Andrew Keener At the time I put it together, it was easily the most affordable 3D printer on the market. Over the past 12 months, a number of other printers have popped up at around that price point (notably, the Monoprice printer and the Printrbot Play), so it's not quite the deal it was a year ago, but it got me going on 3D printing for a low price, and I learned a ton by assembling it. As I think I mentioned in the video, I wouldn't recommend it if you have no interest in building the printer and just want to start printing right away - I would now recommend the Printrbot Play, or just check out Make Magazine's yearly 3D printer roundup. Thanks for watching!
