Thanks! Will do! Actually, I'm working on the second half of this video right now. We'll have to see if everyone finds custom magnetic and G10 heat beds as interesting as the first video.

Thank you. This is one of those projects where I really don’t have any complaints at the end.

The x-axis is over constrained to a point of overkill. One linear rail is enough for such a small tool head. Very cool project though!

100%, I sort of just put it on there because I had it. Maybe that extra rail will be of use when I try and build my own pellet extruder but I'm also thinking I should just leave well enough alone. To be honest trying to tram those two rails has been a pain, I think the Extrusion they are bolted to is bent in a way that I can't measure.

Cool stuff man, I've been there too. Designing printers can be fun :)

Thanks! The hardest part about this is accurately documenting everything, every project supersedes the last. “This is my Magnum Opus, no this is my Magnum Opus.” This got eclipsed immediately, lol.

I work with industrial 3D printers and I have an Elegoo Neptune 2 and I don't know if I should build one or buy a new 3D printer, I know it's fun but man, I work with 3D printers every day and I think when I get home I have to do something else but I really want to build one.

If you work with printers daily you probably already know the big con of building a one-off printer. There's no support, when it breaks or you discover some previously unconsidered flaw there's no one to blame but myself, LOL. My machine's greatest oversight is the placement of the hot end fan relevant to the extrusion behind it ends up directing the air at my print resulting in an unwanted cooling effect, so ABS has been splitting pretty regularly. Swapping the fan orientation results in the same thing with the hot side acting as a duct. It's just something I have to work around. When I finally get to adding a dual extruder system and airbrush compressor as a parts cooler I'll fix it. The way I'm considering packaging that all would put the hotends sideways and hopefully have a clear path for air. That's all part of the fun for me, hot rodding this thing is supposed to keep me busy enough that I don't feel the need to build a VZbot, we’ll see how long I hold out. I find the current generation of off-the-shelf printers pretty lackluster, I'd say go for it, build one!

Maybe you could try a lavalier/lapel mic?

I'm sticking with my shotgun mic for now, way better than my previous one (lapel mic on a stick). I've been filming with it for 5 or 6 months and it's really changed the quality of my video. Not that it matters, as that footage is going to sit around for the same time till I do something with it. I don't really want to deal with separate audio until I transition to a real camera set up. But as an AV guy I'll get into it eventually.

Not ugly at all! Wondering if any custom PCBs, metal 3DP/CNC'd part may assist? We'd love to sponsor and reach any potential collab! (PCBWay zoey)
