I don't think this is really a series on campervan building anymore. It's more of a documentary of a man slowly descending in to madness while looking for his glasses

As a safety professional, I always find myself holding my breath with my hands to my head!! Lifting that satellite assembly onto the roof!!! All's well that ends well!! What a great project - I love watching you problem solve your way to your dream campervan.

Nigel, You may regret attaching the dish to the top of the van as parking under or close to trees will block your signal. I keep mine on its stand on the end of a 150’ cable so that i can pretty much always park where i want and still get a signal.

Nigel you are moving along at break neck speed despite losing your glasses ! Would be awesome to see it done by Feb 😊🙏I think it’s hilarious that not only is Rick silent while behind the camera as you go on talking he maintains silence on camera as well 🤣🤣Best !

I did the same thing. Dremel the motors off. Same 3D printed elements. But I kept the original modem as using only the Starling when standing still. Powered by big Lithium battery. Works perfect!

Your dad looks like my next door neighbour. I always put our protective glasses down in the exact same spot, so I can find them. I'm always worried my wife is going to use them though, because you can guarantee she'll put them somewhere else and I'll have to use the old, scratched pair instead.

Safety glasses are not expensive - I hang a pair on every machine. Never lose them and they are a good reminder to use them.

Mate, love these campervan series. I have my own campervan that takes me around Europe for photography and surf adventures. The one thing we struggle with is to charge our macbook pro laptops. For some reason they macbook charger drains the household battery to fast. I'm curious to what your solution is to keep your laptop(s) charged while being parked. What household battery system did you set up?

You should have added a weep hole(s) on the aluminum sheet under the starlink dish; rain is very persistent. Also, where will your potable and grey water tanks be mounted???

Do you not have to be able to turn/tilt the Starlink to make it work properly?
@NigelDanson21 күн бұрын
Nope - works fine just pointing straight up
@gashead221 күн бұрын
I wondered the same but you are only in one position so it may change in a different location, I hope it works for you after all that work.
@bencollins768421 күн бұрын
Nigel I have used Starlink at home and for work. The non-RV residential version (which it appears you have) is geolocked - meaning if you drive around to a different area, it won't work. The RV version does not have this problem. Have you checked that you will actually be able to drive to different areas and still have it working?
@NigelDanson21 күн бұрын
It isn't geo locked any more which is good
@bencollins768421 күн бұрын
@NigelDanson as in your particular one has been un-geolocked, or the residential version is no longer geolocked for anyone?
@UncleDobby21 күн бұрын
@bencollins7684 if I may interject… The hardware is not restrictive. Your dish may be the same hardware as Nigel’s. It’s in fact the subscription plan that determines where you are licenced to use it. A Home plan fixes your location as the only place to use it. I have the Roam plan and like Nigel, the device can be used anywhere on land and up to 16km off shore in many countries on the globe. There are some countries where it cannot be used. I’m in Australia. The ability to use any of the 3 models of hardware available, recently opened up to use while mobile.

Sorry for the off-topic, but I figured on this channel there are many Nikon users :) I just bought the 100-400 zoom lens and I noticed that there is something inside that rattles when I wobble or rotate it. I presume it's the VR, since when the camera is on it doesn't do it. Is it normal or should I worry? It seems weird to me if it were to be normal, it sounds so cheap
@NigelDanson21 күн бұрын
That isn’t normal - best to get it checked out

Nigel I'm praying and hoping you never get cramp, drop the soap or even sneeze whilst in your new "fits like a glove "shower ! Also slightly baffled why you frequently refer to your new van as a "car" , no car ever made was as big or houses so many creature comforts, it's a motor home, or at least it will be one day! Lol. You do have a good sense of humour, probably just as well. Hoping you'll be in by xmas as your house appears way too tiny to house your camera gear collection, lol.
