I don't think he needs to be given one I think he's smart enough where he can build one. If he needs some ideas he can go to Finnegan's garage here on KZbin Mike Finnegan just built one for himself for his shop

Is all this work fitting the fixtures for reproduction sales later? Seems like a lot of extra steps for a one off track hawk wagon build, instead of building to the charger wagon and moving on.
@tandmbros58772 жыл бұрын
He probably has less then a grand in materials for just the front subframe but with labor engineering and everything a bare subframe with just bushings and unpainted could probably easily sell for 10 grand
@anomamos90952 жыл бұрын
When building a jig fixture there are critical things you need in the exact location, things that might become critical so you need to provide for them and things that you can pretty much ignore and just fub into place when everything else is done. Exhaust hangers and other little tab to hold wires and shields and such are usually something that can be forgotten about until the whole thing is bolted up into the vehicle. The way things were done in the factory is the best solution for assembly line production with robots etc, it may or may not be good to copy everything that the factory does.

Note. A steering rack that’s for behind the axle cannot be moved to in front of the axle. Unless you want turn left to go right.
@scottdoubleyou5632 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong, but with an electric rack, isn't it possible to alter the polarity of the driver motor? Otherwise, yeah. That could definitely be a bit of an issue.
@anomamos90952 жыл бұрын
@@scottdoubleyou563 . The rack is designed to move the tie rod in the required direction when the steering wheel is turned in that direction, if the tie rod is in front of the axle turning the wheel left will move the tie rod left but if the tie rod is behind the axle the tie rod will move right to turn the wheel left, altering the motor to spin opposite will just fight against the turning of the steering wheel.
@scottdoubleyou5632 жыл бұрын
@@anomamos9095 Yup. Makes sense. But I also heard him say that he was using different knuckles. AWD Charger specifically, and that he was swapping sides with them to relocate where the tie rod ends connect to them. Wouldn't that solve the issue? I'm not big on fabrication or customization. I do alot of mechanical work on my own cars, but when it comes to steering and suspension, most of my experience is in lifted YJ's and XJ's, and the occasional lowered Honda. I don't think I've ever relocated an entire R&P unit before.
@anomamos90952 жыл бұрын
@@scottdoubleyou563 he’s been talking about what steering rack to use, charger or track hawk. If one steers from the front of the axle and the other from the rear they cannot be swapped unless they are put on the correct side of the axle. If he’s changing the knuckles to suit the rack when it is located in the correct position that’s a good thing. Except that it may mess up the castor if the ball joints are not in a straight line with the axle
@scottdoubleyou5632 жыл бұрын
@@anomamos9095 Again, everything you're saying makes sense to me. But considering what he's done so far, I think he's gonna figure this out too. Either way, it'll be interesting to see what solutions he comes up with.
