Nice! I work on 793s, we had 797s at one point but the tires were disproportionately expensive and much of our infrastructure was too small to support the 97s. The dispatch system is usually a 2.4GHz mesh network and passes truck location, shovel assignments, and dump assignments. When it works, it's more efficient than voice radio communication. We also have full telemetry on all trucks so maintenance can pull up diagnostic information in near real-time on running trucks.

Had the privilege of building the prototype and regular production engines for these trucks when they first came out. Tandem 3512’s crank to crank. What a trip! They now use C175’s. I just retired from building the 3500 family of engines for 30 years in Lafayette IN. It’s an incredible product and these big machines are impressive to say the least!

Absolutely love the style of these Vlogs. Brilliant filming, editing and sound production produce a great quality overall. I appreciated things like the sound note when the Finning CAT logo clunked onto the center of the screen, and the perfect level adjustment of the background music between Aaron's voice parts - not only does the level fade or rise to the sweet spot, it feels like the music is at the right point in its own track to make that moment the best it can be. Love the excitement and passion that shows through!

@@kingduck3192 they take a long time because they are huge. The frame alone takes weeks to fabricate. @spectralducklin2 жыл бұрын
Cost, be able to go through and check any possible damage that was hidden by the bucket and all the oilsand on the frame and possibly under the bucket too. I believe it's much easier to transport hundreds of spare parts parts from all over the world than it would be transporting a new haul truck this size.
@AaronWitt2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s all in the cost and availability. Significantly cheaper than a new truck
@jayryan19562 жыл бұрын
All the components on the truck are rebuilt And remanufactured. They don’t just throw everything out. Engines, powertrain, hydraulics, suspension and steering. They have a parts exchange program instead of buying brand new parts every time you buy reman at a cheaper cost. Cat components are designed to be rebuilt. They have trucks running around upwards of 180,000 hours on original frames.
