In order to construct the greenhouse frame i needed some nice stable saw horses that were all at equal hight. I was also trying to tidy up around the place and wanted to get a big pile of offcuts out of my way so i decided to make these timber framed saw horses with all the off cuts. They came out great and it was a good opportunity for me to practice my timber framing again before i start the main frame.

In fact, your video is very relaxing with silent moments when there are no talking but you can hear machines or birds in the background or the stream flowing etc. Its like therapy lol, seriously. So just keep doing what you are doing and how you doing it because thats what makes your channel so unique.

Hi, I think your balance of the aspects of your builds is great. There are sometimes moments I would like more detail but I tend to ask you a question if that’s the case 👍👍👍. I would love to hear more detail on how you source your recycled material and the big lumps of equipment you have acquired. It’s funny to think that those horses will probably still be going strong in a century’s time and someone using them will be able to look back at this build video and see them being made 🤓.

I Love this Quote..... Why is such a simple idea so important? Because, as Matthew Syed reminds us, “the path to excellence could not be more difficult. It is steep, gruelling, and arduous. It is inordinately lengthy. And, most importantly of all, it forces voyagers to stumble and fall on every single stretch of the journey.” All of us may travel this path. But doing so demands more than just expecting failure. It demands we embrace it. Excellence demands nothing less than a growth mindset. You my dear Friend, Live by this Quote and that is EXCELLENT!

Your camera view angles and lighting were spot on. Great craftmanship and design of the stands.

Chris , nice trestles, if you whack the all the pegs in as far as you can then go round again they will always go a couple of taps more . I don't know why this is but it's almost like they need a short rest . Can't wait to see how you tackle the frame , if you have corner braces the pegs will need to draw both in and along the mortise. i.e diagonally offset from the prick mark . Cheers, from an ex framer !

And if you ever need jack stands for the ol' tractor, these will more than do the job! As far as the draw-boring goes, the rhyme to remember it is "to the shoulder from the face brings the joint up into place". As far as ideas go, my vote is to spend time on the intricacies of each "type" joint, not each joint. Then montage your way through to the next unique joint, stopping at the points we're you need to make decisions, impromptu design considerations, or god forbid mistakes and you can talk us through the problem solving process. Oh, and maybe a short video where you use a bit of that beautiful wood to make yourself a nice replacement handle for that hand saw. That orange thing is absolutely shocking to look at. Great stuff Kris.

Video style wise I think you’ve got a perfect balance with the way you do things. I love the fact there’s no music and as others have said you often hear the wildlife in the background. I’d like to see a bit more of your everyday life kind of stuff, how you maintain the land and any maintenance or monitoring of your woodland and buildings etc. Would love an update on the wind turbine too (every time I see it I’m literally blown away!!) but I do think you’re doing things perfectly, it’s definitely an armchair education for me and always thoroughly enjoyable whatever the content. I like the talking and just working on things, with occasionally showing proportions and thoughts on why you chose to use a certain technique or whatever. With this video, I found myself guesstimating proportions and trying to figure out the ideal height for sawhorses. Elsewhere I found the answer to the latter question, but it's a bit um, less than polite. :D Mr.Chickadee style videos are also very pleasing, but then a lot of information I'd have to figure out myself.

My late grandfather taught me cabinet making and my late grandmother taught me welding. So mainly self taught when I went to college to expand on what I learnt it was all work sheets and diagrams I could not read it. But when broken down or shown perfect joinery well close to depending on quality. So if you could do a break down then that would be good I love my wood work and have made fences and Wendy houses in past I am autistic with adhd and ptsd so in someways wood work and welding plus other crafts is my way of escaping from things. I love the videos on how you break it down easy to follow.

Throw in a few small projects? Like a short 5-10 minutes vids on the hydro system, windmill, roof, other odd jobs, plenty to talk about! But yeah, some jointing would be cool.

From a quick glance at the comments I can agree with the majority and think you are doing a great job already. You have it down to a tee now. That's the reason we all come back to see what you are up to. Perfect balance! I like your idea of focusing on something different for the four frames. My favourite saw horse was the second one with the nice lines of decay through the lighter wood!

Hey Kris.. your channel is great..don't change anything.. if anything, do more on how you're doing and more about your life ..I know that's a big part of why I time in...

Your balance of info and communication is very informative on all bases you have described. You have performed as a Master Builder...your temperament and humility are easy to digest. Anyone watching you will learn the skills for whatever it is you are creating.

A great pleasure to watch you work Kris, a very good balance between visual and talking. When you start to make the frame for the greenhouse can you show how the bracing is marked out, cheers. Regards Jim.
