Lol great work and I'm glad you didn't spend too much time making it look like a table that would go in a home, it won't be long before it's marked, bashed, chipped, and glue stained. I reckon it will last a year before the first saw cut and then for the rest of your life you will use it as it should be, a table that has chisel cuts, paint marks, if it ever gets too bad you can always take a few mil of the top. From my own experience, a shelf is far better than draws and compartments and make life/work far quicker, for small tools magnetic tool holders are fantastic and work as they should.

There is nothing more satisfying than in the making and nothing more fulfilling happiness than to take pride in the project that you have completed! Buying a new Glossy fine Table with money from the Capitalist market will give you a sense of shallow happiness of owning it, thats consumption! But its even more satisfying to make it yourself and it gives you a sense of pride, that's creation! Consumption is cheap pleasure, whether it is consuming fast food, consuming movies, social media, etc.. consumption is all shallow pleasures, but creation of those very same things, making your own food, making your own music, writing, making your own table - is ultimately the most fulfilling and satisfying way of living! - My reflections from Karl Marx's theory of Alienation.

I'm working on a scrapwood Paul Sellers bench myself. A bit more work than this one and a bit more subtle. If I'd have the space like you have, I'd probably build sonething as sturdy as yours (but with Pauls framing and joinery, probably, which is why you have an awesome bench in 5 days and I have a lot of parts that still need to come together after 5 months..) Awesome build, well done.

My boss lost the ends of his fingers via a distraction. Please make yourself a push stick and bring the fence up closer. I understand if you tell me to f off, but I only have your best.... I have an old 3 phase muli machine I got many years ago that im yet to install, didnt think I would ever do so, but your system has given me inspiration. Best wishes.

Collect all the wood chippings/sawdust and put them in the part of the chicken coop where they lay their eggs. They love a nice warm and dry area to lay eggs, but it also soaks up all the chickenshit/chickenpee, so your eggs come out clean. ;-) So what's the plan for the shed when the man cave/workshop/garage gets finished?

A lovely table - congratulations ! We made one half the size of that, in 1960. Ours differed in that it was designed to disassemble, so everything was joined by coach bolts, with diagonals across the sides and back rather than horizontals ( a triangle is apparently a strong way of getting sturdiness ? ). We were doing much lighter work... In the end, we sold the bench with the house 35 years later, so it never was disassembled ! It must be a lovely smell from the newly-planed wood ? Wishing you an enjoyable holiday, with some of your home-made brew that you might still have ? All the best !

Merry Christmas to ya Kris, here’s a long term project (not that you don’t have enough already!) but I think you should build a very large reservoir up near the penn stock. Level the ground and build the biggest earth bag container for extra water power during the summer. You will need this in times of drought and heavy equipment usage. If the machines ain’t turning, you ain’t earning. Fill the thing with a wind driven water pump with a regular garden hose in the stream, and if you like put your barn next to it, so it can be filled with rainwater. You could run a siphon tube from the tank to the penn stock to give you extra water when you need it. The wind pump will just fill it when the wind blows. Not taking a lot, but some every day. Then you might end up with many thousands of litres of water to use when it doesn’t rain. I live in the U.K. and water supply goes up and down a lot. This might “save the farm” during very low rainfall. It’s something to think about - would you survive with no rainfall?
